this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I wish we had signed Romeo Crennel, I thought I was wrong after Ryans first year and he put up decent numbers, Crennel is still fielding a top ten D every year....

Re: Akiem Hicks backs Rob Ryan, says Ryan’s power was stripped
At some point it's got to be true. I mean as I said SP panicked after losing to Seattle and tried to copy their defense. And I hate doing this but in 2014 we had no number 2 corner, a hurt starting safety, one who had a sophomore slump, and were in our first year without Vilma, Harper, Greer, Jenkins. How can RR make a defense with those missing pieces better? And by taking RR's power away I don't think we are necesarrily talking about when Allen came in but that SP got involved in RR's playcalling and I could see that being the season after 2013. If not it was because Byrd got hurt.
We might be fixing it now but it's honestly time we accept that SP screwed up the 2014 offseason. |

I would agree that Jenkins was only because his best season for the Saints was his final season. You could see he had finally put it together. I didn't like letting him go. Greer was a huge loss, but he didn't take us from 4rth to 32. That loss wasn't on anyone, however, it was an injury. Finally, What happened in Oakland? |
Your team stinks

Dude you can't have it both ways. It can't be Sean did it and when it happens in Oakland it was because the team stunk. He has had two top 10 defenses and 2 top 20 defenses in 12 years. That means 2/3 of the time his d is in the other side of 20. No, it wasn't Sean

Funny how this comes from a guy whose career tanked right about the same time...
29 tackles and 4.5 sacks is his best season. Yeah... |

None of us will ever know the real truth, but something hasn't been right since day 1. Gary Gibbs, Gregg Williams, Steve Spagnuolo, Rob Ryan, and now Dennis Allen. We are only talking since 2006, that is not a long time. What is really going on?

Re: Akiem Hicks backs Rob Ryan, says Ryan’s power was stripped
Hey, look, it is what it is and I'm not surprised...
The fact that Payton rolled out a defense last year with two defensive coordinators speaks volumes - that was horrible, horrible management... One vision, one direction, one leader - what Payton did was wrong... Payton is the greatest offensive mind/playcaller since Bill Walsh - bar none... But this is why you need a strong general manager, not to rubber stamp everything, but to reign in the coach from his own dastardly genius... And it should tell you something that Romeo had misgivens about coming to work for Sean Payton... As I said earlier, I don't blame Ryan for being hurt, he just shouldn't have aired it out there unless he felt he felt the risk of losing job opportunities was greater than staying silent and being loyal, taking the hit full... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...
