Terrific guard was on the market in Clint Boling and we instead signed DB Browner who was left off the Patriot's active roster for their championship run in favor of a UDRFA... And I get drafting the BPA in the draft, but if we don't have what we need on the roster for interior lineman, we should have signed, drafted a guard rather than try the fitting the provervial square peg into a round hole... It's obvious Peat is a tackle, he's more natural and plays better at tackle; and if maximizing his talent is at tackle, we should consider or try looking at Strief as a guard, maybe... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

It was unfortunate that he came in out of shape after graduating from a college on the quarter system where he got to camp late. He looks really good this year and worthy of a first round pick from what I hear at training camp. He will be a stud on the O-line for years.......hopefully at RT not guard. He should be playing RT where he was drafted to play. Strief was supposed to groom him last year and prepare him to take over at RT while Strief played swing tackle. Instead Peat played all over the line because we are so thin and limited athletically at guard. With Armstead at LT.....Unger at Center.....and Peart at RT we have a great center tackle combo. The problem is Payton has gambled on UDFA's to fill the O-line for so long now that the lack of talent is evident at Guard. Lelito put one over on Payton and never developed into the potential Payton saw. Kelemete(Calamity) isn't getting it done either. Both were pulled for sloppy play last year and we still didn't draft or trade for a starting guard or two who could get the job done. Edit: Strief is not a guard. He is a serviceable tackle. Leave him where he is. |
