Payton has said this himself. He says to get back to the super bowl we need to start fast and get ahead early in the season. That starts with preseason he said. He is playing to win.

Agreed. Payton has a thing about FB, TE and PK! It's the "Draft a stud kicker" that gets me. If it's that easy, draft a franchise QB, LB and DE while you're at it.
