PFF: Basically Saints Fans are FOS, 'Offensive Line Is Very Good, And Has The Potential To Be Great.'

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; This has to be a joke. I'm going to keep bashing PFF until the day comes that people finally call that garbage what it is. The offensive line that is UNIVERSALLY acknowledged by observers everywhere as one of the worst ...

The offensive line that is UNIVERSALLY acknowledged by observers everywhere as one of the worst in the league, and even our own coach has expressed his concern. You rank them 3rd BEST in pass protection?

For the love of all that is good, can we please stop paying any attention to what these trolls are saying?

I was listening to NFL radio yesterday and on one of those shows, it may have been the one with Pat Kirwan, they were talking about New Orleans and they said the offensive line is better than many are talking about and they didn't think the Saints would struggle offensively at all. They aren't the only ones. It definitely has not been labeled anywhere close to universally as anywhere close to the worst in the league. I listen to football radio all day long and hear from all kinds of experts all day long and I don't get that impression at all.

What you're hearing now is people giving their expectations for this year. A lot of people are giving, in my opinion, unsubstantiated claims of improvement.

But this grade by PFF is based off of last year. And anywhere you looked or listened people were talking about how they were going to get Drew killed. He was constantly on the run.

And by the way, I don't think the offense will struggle, per se. It's just not going to be anything like it could be, and used to be UNLESS the line improves.

Has it been better? Hell yeah. But to say it is the worst in the NFL when you have not seen it take one snap in an actual game is shortsighted. Do this. Wait until after this weekend and compare their performance against every other line in the league and then you can make an educated evaluation based upon one game. Can you do that?

I'll tell you what's shortsighted, and that is your interpretation of my post.

Did I say THE worst? No, I said it was AMONG the worst LAST YEAR. This is an article about a grade given to last year's performance by the line.

Do I think it's still bad? Yes. I sure do. There is exactly one different starter from last year, and he is a second year player who has struggled. I haven't proclaimed it the worst line this year. I am always watching for improvement. But I reserve the right to have a certain expectation. But that's all beside the point. This was a reaction to a grade given from last year. I have consistently pointed out the fallacies of their grades over the years.

So maybe you should back off. Can YOU do that?

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

You said, "The offensive line that is UNIVERSALLY acknowledged by observers everywhere as one of the worst in the league." You appeared to agree with that unfounded assessment. You can dismiss PFF if you wish, but then you should also dismiss all of that supposed UNIVERSE that says they are one of the worst in the league. Just wait until you have actually seen them in real action.

That is based on their past performance. When commenting directly about a grade from last year, I shouldn't have to spell that out. It isn't unfounded. Everyone could see it. I don't care if you want to blow sunshine up the butt of every person associated with the team. But I'm someone who believes in calling it as I see it.

You have no legitimate argument to defend this line. You have only repeated that we should wait to see them. We have seen them many times. I don't know what magic potion you think they have taken to solve all their issues.

Oh, and what you are giving now are unsubstantiated claims, as well. Wait until the real product takes the field in a real game against a real defense.

I have seen them play. It's the same people. They look bad. Their coach has described it as a concern. You want to go argue with him now? Be my guest. It pains you to imagine that anyone can say something that makes sense, I know.

I expect nothing less from you.
