And Spiller never put up big yards in the passing game. He had somewhere around 460 yards once and never more than 269 in any other season.

Spiller played in an awful offense that failed to use him properly after that breakout season, and he also missed time with some injuries.

I distinctly remember in that big year he had, that he didn't become fully integrated until the second half of the year. He had a phenomenal second half.

The thought was that he would come here, be used properly, and be a star. But instead they just cut him loose in favor of other guys who have done next to nothing.

And as for you saying they made a mistake, I know you did. And I'm saying that I thought we weren't allowed to say such things. If I say it, you'll come behind me and say "well maybe you should run the team". As if I can't see something obvious with my own eyes. But I see that it's cool as long as you are calling it a mistake.

But not as talented as Ingram and Hightower in the coach's eyes and cannot contribute in the special teams game. That is what spelled his doom.

Re: Game Day: New Orleans Saints @ New York G'nats

Whats the myth about Spiller looking Fanta in preseason. He averaged 4.2 yards per carry. Less than the 4.5ypc Ingram has managed over his career
He had one good 12 yard run take that away and its 9 runs for 30 yards 3.3ypc.

He had 7 receptions for 25 yards
Break it down he had 3 receptions for 24 yards and 4 receptions for 1 yard. Against the Steelers he had 3 reception and averaged -0.3 yards

He was done. He should never have been given a contract to start with. He was injury prone and the league knew it and wete not touching him. So we jumped and offered him a overpayed deal. Much like the Fleener deal. Everyone in the league knew the man drops balls often. Its like they just looked at the box score and though 'oh look at them numbers, imagine him with Drew'

Oh and im still p***ed with the refs for handing the game to yhe Giants. You dont make them calls in the last 2 minutes of a game.

Cadet has been around for a few years now. He has had his chances, and done nothing with them. Don't be ridiculous.

The game shouldn't have been that close in the first place, we recorded 0 points from 3 takeaways, 1 of them at the Giants 25 yard line.

We made the mistake of letting the Refs dictate the end of the game because we didnt put it away when we had the chance.

What's the deal with Stephone Anthony? I swear I didn't see him on the field today.

The difference is that I don't chastise them for making a mistake. Every franchise makes mistakes. In many cases they are unavoidable. I criticize those that put all the blame on the front office as if they could have foreseen mistakes. That is my point.

Wish I knew. We would have some fantastic athleticism out there at LB if Craig Robertson and Stephone Anthony could be on the field together.

He had seven KO returns last year, noi punt returns. They hoped he could produce there but his long was only 26 yards. Cadet averaged 31 yards per return and Murphy averaged 25 on 12 returns.

That's a good point, SP is up to no good again, drafting a very promising middle linebacker, moving him to the outside to make room for an aging veteran.

Anthony is going to end up like Malcolm Jenkins, his career will take off as soon as he leaves us.

Re: Game Day: New Orleans Saints @ New York G'nats

Getting rid of Spiller was right. Having Cadet on the roster as anything but a backup was a mistake.

My opinion and thats all it is we need a everydown/everything back.

Ingram does a good job but he is never going to hit that homerun to spring a game wide open. And going back to the old 2011 type RB committee was exposed in the long term.

Teams knew

Ingram on the field = stack the box

Sproles on the field = passing

PT on the field = who knows

Look at the ladt year of Sproles and how often a LB woild be on him before he could break free. With the new era LB being lighter and faster it will not work if teams know whats coming.

We need a RB that can keep teams on edge and teams know if they blitz and miss him he is going 60+ yards.

I know they do not grow on trees but you can find them in the mid rounds of the draft

And what you fail to recognize is that people don't get upset over one mistake. There have been a tremendous amount of mistakes over the last few years. We've had three losing seasons out of the last four and we're 0-2 right now. That didn't happen by accident. I do like a lot of the young players on defense, many of whom are injured now. But this team has been put into this rebuild mode because of the numerous mistakes that were made.

When you are one of the handful of teams in the league who can say they have had an elite QB, you aren't supposed to be losing.

Literally an Adrian Peterson, Todd Gurley type running back.

We need to commit to the run first, those guys would waste away in our offense.

In order to do. That your going to have to fire Sean Payton and rebuild the line because it's a pass blocking line don't think it was ever designed to run the ball in the first place.Sean doesn't believe in running the ball period it don't matter who you have at running back.

If Cadet and Coleman can not suit up anymore games that'd be great....

lee909 09-18-2016 06:12 PM

Re: Game Day: New Orleans Saints @ New York G'nats

It doesn't have to be somebody so high profile. Bell and Lacey were second round picks.
Obviously his injuries count him out but Andre Ellington could do both out the backfield. Pierre Thomas

If they can carry 170-200 times a year and add 30-50 receptions you can spot fill the rest

Re: Game Day: New Orleans Saints @ New York G'nats

I sure wish we had another vet at WR in Brandon Coleman's spot. He is not a very good receiver in my opinion.

saintshrimp 09-18-2016 06:15 PM

Re: Game Day: New Orleans Saints @ New York G'nats

To me the only reason we run the ball is to give the Wrs a chance to catch their breath we really don't intend to gain much from it

Re: Game Day: New Orleans Saints @ New York G'nats

Wouldn't be shocked if he is out on his backside this week for someone on tbe street.

Is Hartline still a FA
Dont fancy Randle but can be much worse

Re: Game Day: New Orleans Saints @ New York G'nats

I would usually say we lost the game at the end, but this one I think we lost in the first half.

How do you turn 3 Giants turnovers into -7 points, without turning it over yourself? Doesn't get much worse than that.

I'm in favour of getting rid of Sean Payton, three straight years starting 0-2, two straight 7-9 seasons, multiple players getting injured every season, offering huge contracts to lackluster players...the list goes on.

Payton does a favour and keeps his friends around, he is surrounded by "Yes Men"

Vitt, Dennis Allen, McMahon, whoever the strength and conditioning coach is and Bill Johnson

Every year we get lackluster play and every year Payton brushes it under the carpet

If we lose the next two weeks, the ENTIRE staff need to be evaluated.

Audiotom 09-18-2016 06:19 PM

Re: Game Day: New Orleans Saints @ New York G'nats

Saints let Khiry Robinson go because they would have to pay him (Chris Ivory Mk ii)
Granted he wasn't a big factor in the screen game but he sure could add a punch spelling Ingram with his all out drive

Oh yeah we all know sean and Loomis both aren't going anywhere anytime soon but the sand is dripping out of the hour glass. If Benson was younger and more focused on the team than his heirs than its a different story but as it stands now the inmates are running the asylum and thats never good as we see

Unless they make the right choices in FA/Draft they won't be. Theres still plenty of holes to fill BUT there some very good stones to build on

I hope PJ Williams recovers quickly and fully
