Saints Draft Board

I sent a list of players to a team source and here are the names and round in which the team has them rated as of TODAY:

Quarterbacks:

Alex Smith-Utah-1st
Charlie Frye-Akron-3rd
Jason Campbell-Auburn-3rd
Adrian McPherson-Florida State-3rd
Kyle Orton-Purdue-5th

Runningbacks:

JJ Arrington-Cal-2nd
Vernand Morency-Ok. State-3rd
Alvin Pearman-Virginia-4th
Manuel White-UCLA-4th
Maurice Clarett-Ohio State-7th

Wide Receivers:

Chris Henry-W. Virginia-3rd
Jerome Mathis-Hampton-3rd
Roddy White-UAB-3rd
Larry Brackins-Pearl River CC-4th
Tab Perry-UCLA-5th

Offensive Tackles:

Jammal Brown-Oklahoma-1st
Alex Barron-Florida State-1st
Khalif Barnes-Washington-1st
Michael Roos-Eastern Washington-3rd
Wesley Britt-Alabama-4th
Anthony Alabi-TCU-5th
Michael Munoz-Tennessee-7th

Outside Linebackers:

Derrick Johnson-Texas-1st
Shawne Merriman-Maryland-1st
Kevin Burnett-Tennessee-1st
Thomas Davis-Georgia-2nd
DeMarcus Ware-Troy State-2nd
Channing Crowder-Florida-2nd
Darryl Blackstock-Virginia-3rd
Jordan Beck-Cal-Poly-4th

Inside Linebackers:

Barrett Ruud-Nebraska-1st
Odell Thurman-Georgia-2nd
Lance Mitchell-Oklahoma-3rd
Leroy Hill-Clemson-3rd
Robert McCune-Louisville-4th
Mike Goolsby-Notre Dame-5th

Cornerbacks:

Antrel Rolle-Miami-1st
Adam Jones-West Virginia-1st
Justin Miller-Clemson-1st
Carlos Rogers-Auburn-1st
Marlin Jackson-Michigan-2nd
Bryant McFadden-Florida State-2nd
Eric Green-Virginia Tech-2nd
Corey Webster-LSU-3rd
Antonio Perkins-Oklahoma-4th
Stanley Wilson-Stanford-4th
Ronald Bartell-Howard-4th
Alphonso Hodge-Miami(Oh)-4th
Brandon Browner-Oregon State-7th

When I look at the list, I know DJ is not there at 16. I'd take Jammal Brown at 16, as he is a true RT. Mayberry could stay at G(his natural position). and at 40, I take Odell Thurman. Thurman is an animal at the MIKE position. While I'd like DJ as my WILL, I think Colby could develop into a very servicable player at the position. He was a bright spot when you consider he was a 7th rounder and not expected to make the team at all. Nice pick up there. I still see a number of options. Still early.

Crowder played both SAM and MIKE at Florida and many teams feel he is a better strong-side OB than a true MIKE. The Saints happen to rate him as a strong-side backer.

not quite clear, is this the saints ratings or is was it sent to them?

I sent them a list of players that I had taken a liking to through film and talking to scouts and my source sent back the round inwhich they project on the Saints\' draft board currently.

Andrew Walter\'s pro day is tomorrow. I will post his workout info on here once it is sent to me.

A live chat sounds fun. I\'m down.

Adam Terry is a pretty athletic OT. He\'s got good size at 6080, 330, and could project as a RT better than a LT in the NFL. He\'s a bit stiff, but sets a heavy anchor and shows good, solid footwork. He\'s got long arms and gets out front in pass protection. Slides well. He shows the ability to recover on a speed rush. He\'s got some tools. I think he is a late 2nd or high 3rd rounder.

Boley is an athletic LB who can play all three LB spots. Showed well at the combine. Was a productive player in college, but he does struggle shedding blocks. USM blitzed him a lot, so he times them well and is very good at doing that. I like him as a 2nd/3rd rounder as well.

Morrison is NOT a good athlete. He struggles moving laterally and doesn\'t show great playing speed. No chance he can cover anyone. I am not really high on him. He was productive, but that is where it starts and ends. 5th round.

It just seemed like he might have changed his draft status in some way , other then off the field antics .

how can venturi still have a job here? at least how still dc?

Venturi is one of Benson\'s boys. He will have a job here in some role as long as Tom is alive.

I don\'t know...that list seems kinda bunk...

What kind of source gives out Draft lists over the Internet?...especially this time of year..

Wouldn\'t that be a breach of security and trust? That is sensitive info...and would probably be better kept quiet...if it\'s real...

i dont think it is that big of a deal of info. it is extremely fluid and will change a lot between now n the draft.

more detail from such info like do ya go demarcus ware or marlin jackson in the 2nd would have some weight.

I\'m not sure i understand what you mean by \'\' some role\'\'

He is still listed as the D coordinator on the teams website...and I know it has been updated..because they have Sheppard as the O coordinator..

Doesn\'t look like his position has changed at all...

CanLoomis was a draft intern on the team, which is why he gets this info. He still has friends inside.

All teams have a general idea of what other teams intend to do in the draft anywayz. The main thing that controls where draft picks fall is Free Agency. Also ratings will no doubt change over the coming weeks. It\'s really no big deal.

i asked him about boley somewhere else danno. it is simply a list of ones he had gone over himself and got feedback on. i asked also on andrew walter. he said he had not summed him up since his proday is today and will after that. none of his numbers were much out of line with what you would find anywhere else. i think boley was 3rd rd-ish. he was pretty negative on kirk morrison as lacking in some very neccesary tools.

Draft intern... LMAO...

papz 03-10-2005 10:39 AM

That\'s just how the Saints rate certain players, it doesn\'t mean that\'s where they are going to get picked. If they have Davis rated as a second rounder, I\'m pretty sure we aren\'t looking to pick him. I\'m surprised to see Munoz down there seeing he plays OT. Guess we aren\'t high on him at all. Darryl Blackstock is shooting up the draft boards and Browner is definately dropping because of the 4.6/4.7 he ran at the combine. Look what happened last year with Nathan Vasher who now plays for the Bears. He feel to the 4th I believe after running his 4.6 and now he\'s a very important contributor to their defense. Browner will be a steal. I would like us to take Eric Green because I really like his makeup and attitude. He\'s very much like his former teammate DeAngelo Hall. It\'s a positive thing that not many people are hyping him up because he\'ll be a solid player for someone.

I\'m just saying...It seems od that any team would feel it neccesary to give an EX Draft Intern any info at all..

It\'s like saying...Hey..I used to be a Cart boy at Wal Mart...and I have big time connects..I know them all..

Know what Im saying?

This info moslty sounds like stuff they would put on a pay site to me..

Just my opinion

Well..when you add it up...

EX draft intern, now turned \'\' Independant Consultant\'\'?

Then you add in posts like this

\'\'I just spoke to Hartwell\'s agent and he told me he is working on a deal with the Chiefs. He also said the Rams have come in lately and are making a run, but it seems Ed wants to play in KC. He also informed me that the Saints DID NOT call his office. In other words, we had no interest in signing him. \'\'

Why on Earth would an Agent be handing out vital info on deals pending?..to a non need to know guy too...

What agent would risk bieng undersold?..what player would have an agent like that?..and what team would even attempt to make deals with a guy who hands out info like this over the phone to some \'\'Independant Consultant\'\'?

people on this board work hard...sometimes for several days at a time, getting stats..info..LINKS....PROOF...things we can sink our teeth into..and just go all out on...
it\'s those guys opinions who I truley respect...

Guys like Lkelly. Gumbo..Xan...Whodat...and many , many others...whether on not I toally agree with what they say is irrelevant...they make an honest effort..for the good of us all, to be informed..and show PROOF to make thier point heard..and validated...

I\'m not sure why..or what your trying to do...but trust me..these guys are WAY too well informed to fall for it for too long..

Give you enough rope, and you\'ll hang yourself...

I have a great idea. Why don\'t you guys give him a chance to get his point across? I don\'t know that he has these contacts and you don\'t know he doesn\'t. He pm\'d me this morning about all this and said he was going to send me proof of what he says. So I would appreciate it if you would back off for now and lets\' see.

I know secretaries at many companies who know more about the decisionmaking and status of isssues than the executives. I don\'t doubt for a moment that there are relationships that can pass on this kind of information at that level. While I agree with many of the points made on this subject about possible validity, it is not entirely unlikely that the information purposely is passed to advance thinking and test reaction. Remember, this is entertainment, and while competitive, it still must meet the expectations of the viewers. I think that it is possible that the organization passes along to key opinion leaders its concepts and structures to guage reaction and mitigate adverse reaction. In addition, much of the information as noted is not beyond what many on this board have surmised already. What is not distributed is critical negotiation status or tip-offs - that would be unconscionable.

Many have noted that this board is not a venting port. There is serious reflection and analysis here. If you were seeking reaction to potential moves from a wide range of thoughtful and supportive critics in your fan base, where would you look? How would you go about interacting with it? This is exactly the kind of thing that political organizations do (read Republicans, Democrats haven\'t figured this out yet) employ to ensure that points are made and votes are scored.

papz 03-10-2005 01:41 PM

Saints Draft Board

Or disprove it either... I remember the first post CanLoomis made, and it blew me away. Without even knowing about his past experience with the Saints organization, I knew he had to have worked there in some capacity. Maybe he\'s just a son of a friend of a coach who\'s daughter he\'s dating married his brother... maybe he\'s a complusive liar with 3 nipples... maybe he\'s a computer hacker that hacked into some elite Saints secret files... maybe he really worked for the Saints... heck WHO CARES! He\'s pretty informative and it\'s a good read. Hell I HATE MEL KIPER because every year he\'s full of crock, but I still read his articles.

shadowdrinker 03-10-2005 01:45 PM

Saints Draft Board

Ok...like I said..add it up...

Let\'s just say...he has an inside to the Saints....

Why on earth would an agent , who is trying to make a deal with KC..be giving info to guy who is unemployed by the Chiefs...or any team at all?..Then...Why would someone who was granted this kind of inside..private info..be spilling it out on the Net?...What kind of person does that?

Hmmmm....
