Re: Trade Mark Ingram!?!

I used the word "burst" in my game day thread vs the Chiefs as it relates to Ingram vs Hightower. MI simply doesn't "hit" the hole with authority when it's there. No shake and bake or even a spin move (see Eddie Lacey).

IMO we are slow at the RB position. When LB's crash on Mark to make a play, it's over ... he's tackled. Rarely does he break it for a substantial gain. At this level, you need a RB who can do that (AZ RB Johnson will illustrate that when we play them). Honestly, I can't remember a gain or break away over 15 yards this year.

I have 0 hate for Mark but he simply lacks the explosion/burst you need when the lanes are there.

Well Guido, you keep doing it... I tried to have hope for you, but you'll officially be the first person on my block list. Congrats, because you earned it!

I would like to see the game where Ingram gets the ball 32 times.

Re: Trade Mark Ingram!?!

I think he is more of the back that we had in 2009 - Ball. The hard 1-2 yard pounder to complement PT and Bush.

Trying to make him anything other than that I think isn't fair. At times I think its the line's fault but then you see Hightower with much larger gains. At this rate I can see us parting ways with him. If we can do it to Jimmy we can certainly do it to Ingram.

I think you meant Bell and I agree he will grind out the short runs, catching passes and picking up blitzes. Over the course of his career, he has protected the ball well in spite of the blunder vs KC.

Coach Payton isn't going to give it to anyone else until he has 100% confidence that Brees is well protected by the RB he puts in.

On to Seattle ...

Re: Trade Mark Ingram!?!

Ingram picks up the blitz and Payton trusts him to do that. I don't watch LSU and don't know anything about Fournette. Is he a good blocker? Can he catch out of the back filed? How good is his ball security?

I have watched Ingram since college(Roll Tide) and he had a very slow start because of injuries. He is a good back who would run better with a good Oline. Was he worth the typical two draft picks Payton loves to give up for players he covets? Ingram will never be utilized here to his full extent. Sad but true.

Fournette is an outstanding blocker, and is built ideally for anything you need him to do. As far as ball security, LSU running backs almost never fumble. They are taught very well, and Fournette is no different. He has fumbled three, maybe four times in his career at LSU, that I can remember, and I only know of two times that he lost the fumble.

As for Ingram, he has been here a long time now, and he didn't always have a poor line. And It's impossible for me to make excuses for him when he's being outplayed by Tim Hightower, who has been through way more injuries, and is running behind the same line. I don't know how else anyone expects us to utilize him. He is what he is.

All of that said, we're highly unlikely to draft Leonard even IF we somehow end up with a top five pick. But you never know with this team.

I wouldn't be upset if traded Ingram.

Roll with Hightower and Lasco, both have shown they can run and catch passes also.

Re-sign Spiller, seahawks just released him lol

OK, first off, MIA sucks. We would not get anything for him. Second, have you watched LF7 at all? There is no denying his talent and what he would bring to the table. You pass on LF7 you deserve to lose.
