Re: The 2017 Byrd quandary
For those who believe in stats from PFF's, Byrd had top defensive grades this week. The dynamic we have with the 3 safeties is working pretty well and we'd be remiss to not try to keep that together next year.
We've had other guys take pay cuts in the past, so it shouldn't be out of the question here. From a financial and on the field standpoint, it benefits everyone to keep him, work out a pay restructure (he'd probably still make more here than if he hit the open market, so we have leverage), and keep him another year. Then, in 2018 possibly cut him loose ;). In my opinion, the current safety position is a strength on this team. |

Let's see if he makes it through the season first.

What is the quandry? send his ass packing. throw a jug of milk back there, it would be more effective.

Re: The 2017 Byrd quandary
Restructure and keep him. He finally looks healthy and could be a solid contributor next year.
If he doesn't want to restructure, then adios muchacho! |
