If I'm the Texans, I'm tagging him - better to have one bad year of a contract and move on than four years of a bad contract at that position...

Should Bouye prove he was no one year wonder, you can tag him again and get him extended long term...

Payton has made it very clear that he wants a pass rusher. We all know why.

I am reluctant to pay big money for a pass rusher that another team is willing to let go.

After looking at the available pass rushers in free agency Melvin Ingram is the one that makes the most sense to me.

His injury history worries me , however he has put together two back to back good seasons

Adding a another rusher in the draft would also make sense and the player that appeals most to me is Solomon Thomas DE. IMHO he would be a perfect bookend to Cam Jordan. We might have to move up to get him. Garrett would be too costly to go up for.

Payton said it was a MUST to add a pass rusher and knowing the way our team works that means we're gonna address it in free agency. Keep in mind, Melvin Ingram had his best season the year our new LB coach Mike Nolan was coaching in San Diego.

My question is, does this spell the end of Ellerbe's tenure with the Saints should Ingram be added?

Question 1 on Ingram is will he be tagged, with a 14 million dollar price?
and 2, what are the Saints willing to pay?
Every freaking team is looking at him. He'll def get 12, and probably bid it up more

Yep.

Remember just last year Olivier Vernon (Giants) got a 5 year $85 million deal so I'm certain Ingram can surely expect something similar. It seems as though a lot of people still haven't gotten used to the rapidly rising cap. Ingram is the best pass rusher available and he is gonna get PAID.

Careful here ...

It's easier to fix right guard in free agency than edge rusher/defensive end in free agency this year...

Payton likes misdirection, so I suspect the real priority is guard or maybe defensive back...

There are only two that I like in this years group in the elite category - Kevin Zeitler and Andrew Norwell...

I am looking for run stopping up the middle were we got our azz hand to us all season long

Big bucks we all know
Fairley, Nick
vs
Johnathan Hankins
or
I want to point out a cheaper option that might be good up and comer to keep an eye on. Rush defense was never an issue it was pass rush and he seems to be catching on.
Lawrence Guy, DE/DT, Ravens 26/ 6'4' / 305 / Rd. 7 (233) / GB
draft
Dalvin Tomlinson DT Alabama 6022 305 5.14 #54 rSr

Now talk to me first about anchoring the edge and gap discipline and collapsing the pockets to create pressure.

this is the ability that is making me warm up to a LB that maybe better as a 43 DE
T.J. Watt OLB/DE/TE Wisconsin 6042 243 4.65 #42 rJr

Taco Charlton DE Michigan 6052 272 4.87 #33 Sr,

Trey Hendrickson DE Florida Atlantic 6036 270 4.82 #9 Sr
Derek Rivers DE Youngstown St 6042 255 4.79 #11
Keionta Davis, DE, Chattanooga 6030 274 4.86 #93 rSr
Daeshon Hall, DE, Texas A&M 6052 260 4.78 #10 Sr
Isaac Rochell DE/DT ND 6031 290 4.86 #90 Sr

Next about the glory of sacks.
Takkarist McKinley DE UCLA 6021 258 4.62 #98 Sr
Carl Lawson DE Auburn 6015 253 4.67 #4.67 rJr
Deatrich Wise DE Arkansas 6045 271 4.84 #48 rSr

one I do not feel comfortable totally pegging as one or the other is
Jordan Willis WDE/OLB Kansas St 6041 250 4.67 #75 Sr
i question his motor/desire more than anything else.

Keionta Davis, DE, Chattanooga 6030 274 4.86 #93 rSr
HGT 6030
WGT 274
HAND 9
ARM 33 1/8
WING 80 1/2
I am really starting like for my small school sleeper day 3. might not be a high-end athlete but I love his motor. Never stops

another is
Isaac Rochell DE/DT ND 6031 290 4.86 #90 Sr
HGT 6043
WGT 282
HAND 10
ARM 33 1/4
WING 79
unappreciated run-stopper and a disciplined pocket collapser

I think Zeitler is also going to get max money. Warford is a cheaper, albeit more speculative option.
Oh, and Bushrod is out there waiting for a phone call
