Updated [again] my favorite targets for the Saints' Top Ten Free Agent Targets:

1. RG Kevin Zeitler, 27 (The Big Fish)

2. LG Andrew Norwell, 25 (RFA)

3. DE Calais Campbell, 30

4. DE Jason Pierre-Paul, 28 (Red Flag)

5. CB Trumaine Johnson, 27

6. QB Brian Hoyer, 31

7. QB Nick Foles, 28

8. CB Sterling Moore, 26

9. WR Willie Snead, 24 (RFA)

10. FB John Kuhn, 34 (signed) :bng:

Note(s): It's looking more and more like JPP may be in play for the Saints; I'd prefer Campbell, but he's 30, but could put us over the hump...

Dropped Fairley as I don't see a spot for him at the contract he earned this past season; some guys are 1`year contract guys...

Disclaimer: Again, don't expect to sign all from the list, but three or four of the top 6 would be great...

Signing three of the top five and our key returning FAs would have me ...

Johnathan Hankins
or
I want to point out a cheaper option that might be good up and comer to keep an eye on. Rush defense was never an issue it was pass rush and he seems to be catching on.
Lawrence Guy, DE/DT, Ravens 26/ 6'4' / 305 / Rd. 7 (233) / GB
draft
Dalvin Tomlinson DT Alabama 6022 305 5.14 #54 rSr

Now talk to me first about anchoring the edge and gap discipline and collapsing the pockets to create pressure.

this is the ability that is making me warm up to a LB that maybe better as a 43 DE
T.J. Watt OLB/DE/TE Wisconsin 6042 243 4.65 #42 rJr

Taco Charlton DE Michigan 6052 272 4.87 #33 Sr,
Solomon Thomas SDE Stanford 6021 275 4.84 #90 rSo
Trey Hendrickson DE Florida Atlantic 6036 270 4.82 #9 Sr
Derek Rivers DE Youngstown St 6042 255 4.79 #11
Keionta Davis, DE, Chattanooga 6030 274 4.86 #93 rSr
Daeshon Hall, DE, Texas A&M 6052 260 4.78 #10 Sr
Isaac Rochell DE/DT ND 6031 290 4.86 #90 Sr

Next about the glory of sacks.
Takkarist McKinley DE UCLA 6021 258 4.62 #98 Sr
Carl Lawson DE Auburn 6015 253 4.67 #4.67 rJr
Deatrich Wise DE Arkansas 6045 271 4.84 #48 rSr

one I do not feel comfortable totally pegging as one or the other is
Jordan Willis WDE/OLB Kansas St 6041 250 4.67 #75 Sr
i question his motor/desire more than anything else.

Keionta Davis, DE, Chattanooga 6030 274 4.86 #93 rSr
HGT 6030
WGT 274
HAND 9
ARM 33 1/8
WING 80 1/2
I am really starting like for my small school sleeper day 3. might not be a high-end athlete but I love his motor. Never stops

another is
Isaac Rochell DE/DT ND 6031 290 4.86 #90 Sr
HGT 6043
WGT 282
HAND 10
ARM 33 1/4
WING 79
unappreciated run-stopper and a disciplined pocket collapser

I would add Brandon Williams to that list. Consistantly needs double teamed and an much better than average run stuffer.

Snead is an ERFA, meaning he cannot go on his own. Still, a long term deal would be good.
JPP is going to get a sh**load from someone...maybe us? 14 mill at age 28 = not good numbers
I'd love to get a guard on March 7, Day one.

Brandon Williams, Zietler, Nick Fairley, Melvin Ingram, JPP (even with a three finger discount ;)) etc are all potentially looking at big pay days in the open market for 2017. It is what it is.

Very true, but if I'm going to fix this D and I mean actually "fix" this D, I spend on a monster like Williams, not Fairley, not Ingram, not JPP, but a monster to anchor that line for years. Then we could draft an OLB and DE, they are fairly deep this draft. Zeiter would look good on the O I must say. It's kind of slim in the O-line draft but there are some good FA availible.

Very true... and we can't be afraid to spend big just because of the Byrd signing not working out. Look at what the Giants did last offseason and the huge improvement they made defensively. Gotta go for it.
