I got him once in the third round so far; fans and writers may not be GMs and Scouts, but they're all seeing the same thing... Really like him or Watt for our second round pick... |
Re: 2017 NFL Combine - Saints Prospects
I'm really starting to warm up to Cunningham at OLB. 6'4 but his frame has room to put on a few pounds, can run with rb.'s and TE's.

Re: 2017 NFL Combine - Saints Prospects
The annual Under amour games.I am interested in the draft but the combine is really kind of boring.
I think that all the measurables are small part of the process. Players should be evaluated more on their film. Given all the money and effort teams spend on the draft it still is a crapshoot. Last year's draft appears at first sight to have been a successful effort. I hope that holds this year as well. Our teams talent pool is shallow on the defensive side and an obvious focus in this years Free agency and draft The constant hope is you can find one of the rare players that are so talented and driven that they raise the level of others around them I am speaking about the Ricky Jacksons Sam Mills type. We all yearn for the star All Pro types ,however it sometimes players that are just good enough that change the complexion of a teams fortune. The Remi Ayodele and Jabari Greer that make a difference. I have always liked that the FO has pursued all avenues to attempt to improve, Though players like CJ Spiller failed I like the fact that we tried. Darren Sharper was such an attempt that payed off. I wait excitedly to see what they try this year. |
Re: 2017 NFL Combine - Saints Prospects
The combine can "reveal" more about players...
The tape is most important, but you have to have an idea of the competition they're up against... Getting true height and weights is a big deal... The high jump and long jump can reveal the kind of player's burst at the line... A linemen who can't crank out the reps on the bench is a useful indicator... And not just the times, but well a player looks in the shuttle moves is good... I still think all the drills with the exception of the bench press should be done in full gear... |

Re: 2017 NFL Combine - Saints Prospects
I disagree to a point.
You have to watch those combines especially the drills. I have watched the past 5 years seriously and the players I picked who I tought stood out have all made contributions in good ways for the teams that drafted them. You take into account what the did in college and every aspect of the combine and interview and you hope for the best but to not look at the combine to help you make your decision is stupid. |

New Orleans Saints check out guards at the NFL Combine | NOLA.com
"Illinois State guard Cameron Lee said Thursday he has a formal interview scheduled with the Saints, while Tennessee-Chattanooga guard Corey Levin said he met with the Saints on Wednesday night in an informal setting." |

If I'm the Mickster, I sign Kevin Zeitler and draft Levin and groom him in four years to be the starter... That's how you maintain high levels of your offensive line... |
Re: 2017 NFL Combine - Saints Prospects
Quote:
You had some players from 'Bama who were top 15, guaranteed... Then once they were up against the best, individually, and not as that vaunted defense, their value fell off, for some to the second and third round... The UConn Safety that Dallas took, Byron Jones, is another one; and he's been pretty special for Cowgirls - that world record in the standing broad jump at the 2015 combine... Or Edge Rusher Noah Spence? Was slow as molasses in the shuttle drills; while he had 5.5 sacks, he only had 16 tackles on the season, only started 3 games and was non-existent against the Saints; now he may evolve eventually, but the combine exposed him and he fell from the Saints option to the second round... And I'll keep bangin' me drum - do all the drills but Bench Press in the pads! |

How about Larry Warford? I understand he is a pretty good guard. Not in the Zeitler level, but still good. |
Re: 2017 NFL Combine - Saints Prospects
Would anyone kick the tires on either Chance Warmack or Luke Joeckel
Be best if brought in as back ups but both still young enough to get it together with the right coaching |

Re: 2017 NFL Combine - Saints Prospects
WalterFootball.com: NFL Draft Rumor Mill
"The 2017 NFL Draft is very strong at the cornerback position and the Saints feel that they could land a good corner in the second round. There should be some pass-rushers available in Round 2, but the talent dropoff from the first-round pass rushers could be significantly greater than the difference at cornerback. In many years, there can be a run on pass-rushers, and the Saints think that is possible this year as well. Right now, it sounds like the Saints' preference is for Michigan defensive end Taco Charlton over Tennessee's Derek Barnett and Stanford's Solomon Thomas." |

Bench press skills? lol
McCaffrey is legit. He is not average RB/WR. Dude could be day 1 starter at WR position. Think about that. That's scary good weapon... |
Re: 2017 NFL Combine - Saints Prospects
Bench press is more like a reference point to endurance or stamina to blocking

Who cares its hardly against the law is it. So long as there was a reason behind it and he didnt started throwing abuse around so what. Ive had heated arguments with loads of people |
Re: 2017 NFL Combine - Saints Prospects
I'm hearing that his interviews were pretty bad and there was some concern about his state of mind and well-being. It's hardly nothing. When was the last time a potential top 10 pick got sent home from the combine for behavioral issues?
