Re: Patriots considering trading Malcolm Butler to Saints for Brandin Cooks: report

One of the Patriot's keys to success is they never NEED anybody. Cooks could easily be the best guy out there for their system, but there's at least five or six guys out there that'll fill in almost as well. They'll never give an opponent an advantage by overspending or even giving fair market value for anyone because of that. I said the Pats would pop back up before it was all over, but I think our best two options'll be a trade with the Titans or us just keepin' that fine young man.

I'm feeling more and more like this trade isn't gonna happen.

Re: Patriots considering trading Malcolm Butler to Saints for Brandin Cooks: report

This might sound like a good deal on the surface, but I'm wary of taking players from the Patriots. They have a knack for making guys look a whole lot better than they actually are.

Considering Butler came out of nowhere, in the first place, it makes me wonder all the more if he can succeed outside of their system.

If they'd still throw in their first rounder, I'd say go for it. But that would be stupid on the Patriots part.

I have a feeling we are asking for more compensation than just Butler because of the contracts. I would say a conditional 6th rd pick next year that could become a 4th

We need a proven CB and butler is one of the best in the business.... Brandon cooks will be getting paid next season you think he will play under the rookie contract if he puts up another good season.... no dude will get paid and he is the one who wants out... I don't want a guy who doesn't even want to play for us.... getting butler would be huge ....

We dont have to trade him so why rush.if it were me. I would be calling Cleveland and their boat load of picks and see if they wanna deal say cooks and 11 and possible nect yr 2 or 3 for Myles Garrett in

Because Garrett is going to suck. He disappered against above avg teams. He quits on plays and had half his sacks against UTSA

Re: Patriots considering trading Malcolm Butler to Saints for Brandin Cooks: report

Cooks would have more individual success in Cleveland IMO. For the Pats, not going to happen for him. He would also likely be let go at the end of the season. I don't see them ponying up for some stellar contract for a WR.

Cooks is really in a bad spot. Should have kept quiet. He could potentially wind up on his third team in 3 years and then get stuck on a truly awful team the rest of his career.
