If this was a simple trade they wouldn't be wining and dining. He has a say in this matter. He has to be willing to sign the tender to take the Saints' first rounder off the table. He would only do that if he knew for certain that a trade in principle has already been agreed upon between the Saints and the Pats.

No. You implied it, Sir. My statement should have led you to believe that Butler could work in any system, not that system players don't exist.

Of course system players exist. We have and have had a them on our team.

Sorry, but I have a bad feeling about all of this. Saints should tell the Patroits to keep Butler. I'd rather take my chances with a rookie CB.

No matter how talented they may be, it is very rare for a rookie CB to be very effective. It takes most of them a couple of years to get up to NFL speed. A good veteran CB is more valuable than a potentially very good rookie CB if you are wanting to win NOW.
