Re: Breaking: Malcolm Butler visiting Saints Thursday!
When all is said and done it should be Butler+3rd rounder for Cooks+4th rounder. Just speculation of course.

Re: Breaking: Malcolm Butler visiting Saints Thursday!
In a defensive and more specifically cornerback loaded draft, the price does seem a little steep.

Re: Breaking: Malcolm Butler visiting Saints Thursday!
I feel ya, but we've been in that mode for three years and all the carefree (or careless) attitude towards rookies and draft picks has yielded is 7-9 and annual salary cap crunches till this year...

Re: Breaking: Malcolm Butler visiting Saints Thursday!
Hey JP, we actually tried a bunch of stop gap signings, and one was fairly expensive lesson. Greer going down like he did and retiring was really devastating. We tried Champ but those tires had fallen off and then we tried Browner and that didn't work either. We have drafted decent at corner if you consider Swann's first season and Williams' potential. Our problem has been their health. We have 1.5 games in two years from Williams. Swann had those 8 or so games where he really looked like he had some potential and then the concussions. I am very scared signing Butler for a really lucrative contract just because of our history. I hope our current D coaches know what they see etc

The use of that #32 pick as collateral would also probably draw the ire of Goodell but hey... Us and the Pats are Gate-bro's so bring it on!

I think so as well... giving them our 2nd round pick for Butler I can live with. It also comes down to the contract they can ink him to.

Re: Breaking: Malcolm Butler visiting Saints Thursday!
If it is just the 32nd, that works for me. There a quite a few CBs taken in the first round every year but very few are as good as Butler.
