I am with you on theory but with the draft picks not so much.

I can't see them going away from BPA and drafting for a need. Except for the need on D in general.

Leaning towards trading up to #1 - best player at DE in a decade - it fits the BPA and need. Worse case we stay put and I think the best player is going to be a LB. Foster should fall, and there is also Riddick.

I would be so fed up if they wasted a the picks to move up to one
It would cost both 1sts and likely a 2 or 3 aswell

Garrett may be a good player but his stats are well over blown

He had 31 sacks in 3 years and 16 of them were against
UT San Antonio
Nevada
Louisiana Monroe
Lamar
Rice

Its similar with his tackle total
81 total tackles with half against

Prairie View
Ball St
Nevada
Western Carolina
Vanderbilt
Lamar
Rice
Louisiana Monroe

He has feasted on really poor opponents
He may well go on and be a double figure sack guy each year but that record doesn't have him as the next great thing and worthy of giving up multiple early picks

I think we can do it by just offering them #11 and #32. Bowns love snagging picks.

You are about the only one on the planet that doesn't think this guy is the real deal. You don't take into account the double and triple teams he was fed. Sorry I am going to go with my own eyes and what everyone else on the planet has to say about him. He clearly is the number one pick in the draft.

Im not saying he should not be the number 1 pick
Im saying his feasted on poor offensive lines. So what if he was doubled teamed he will be in the big leagues too. Even for just the 11/32 picks i wouldn't trade up and it will cost more

If you use the trade value chart the cost would be at least the Saints first 5 picks and it would not get you the correct amount of points

Officially the Saints would need to give up
11/32/42/76/103

Trade Totals
Browns Gives Value: 3000
Saints Gives Value: 2618

They are not excepting just 11 and 32

We need a DE who can seal an edge, stop the run and if he picks up 6 sacks a year that's lagniappe IMO

What his defense is REALLY missing is a missile linebacker.

We don't need the number one player in any category. They just need to be good and more importantly, coachable. That being said, there's nobody in this or any draft we need to trade the farm or trade up for. We just needed to drop our cronyism with the coaching staff and get some really good, innovative coaches to replace the beloved yet inept dinosaur family that was here and...

wait for it....

Championship!

One can't argue that point either hopefully we got something in AJ but I can't help but want to draft Foster and or Riddick.

Patriots previous trades & now guideline for Saints potential trade for Malcolm Butler

Trade 1:
(New England/Arizona)

Arizona receives: Chandler Jones

New England receives: 2016 2nd round pick & Jonathan Cooper

Trade 2:
(New England/Cleveland)

Cleveland receives: Jamie Collins

New England receives: Conditional 2018 4th round pick, which ultimately became a 2017 3rd round compensatory pick
-------------------------------------------------

After reviewing New England's past trades of Chandler Jones & Jamie Collins, who were in contract years identical to Malcolm Butler, I believe a fair trade with New Orleans should look as follows...

Potential trade:
(New Orleans/New England)

New Orleans receives: Malcolm Butler

New England receives: 2017 3rd Round pick(#76 overall) & 2017 7th round pick(#229 overall)

Why it makes sense:

The value New England receives falls right in the middle of their two prior trades with Arizona & Cleveland. Chandler Jones(4years/36sacks in NE) nets the biggest return because of the Higher positional value & money he commands as an EDGE defender, followed by Malcolm Butler at CB, then Jamie Collins as an LB. While Malcolm Butler has developed a name for himself these past two years, I see no reason why New Orleans should give up more than what Arizona paid for Jones, a former 1st round pick with top production.

Seems a little much. Even more so with the Cooks deal.
