What??? I'd hate to live in your pessimistic world, especially since you appear to think you're just being objective. Our DB's injuries were just contact, freak accidents that aren't indicative of their long term health possibilities.

I'd be more worried about Kikaha who if I'm not mistaken had a knee injury in college and now again a non-contact one last season.

A great example is the Saints' defense in 2013 vs. 2014.

The stale LB and DL coaching of the past decade have been shown the curb. They have been replaced by far better coaches. The defense will also have the use of 2016 1st round selection the whole season, instead of the last few games. Kenny Vacarro shouldn't have to serve any suspensions, and it is not very likely that six DB's will suffer season ending injuries. We have also added A.J. Klein, who I am actually excited about seeing, and brought back the other R. Bush. Not to mention the impact of five picks in the first three rounds.

It is the same ol story - time to gel

I'm more excited and hopeful because we got rid of some terrible and complacent coaches than anything else. I still think we can be better with the current roster than last year. Based on coaching replacements alone!

So why should he not be playing in the NFL? He has a ton of talent and would have showed it last season.
I thought I put "and" a player who should not be playing, aka Swann.

The point is injuries happen. And if you don't have depth that's bad. Depth is important. You can talk about fluke injuries, but most players that get hurt don't always have the same injuries. Keenan Allen was said to have had a fluke injury in 15? Guess what, we got hurt again in 2016. Once a player gets hurt they will be afraid to get hurt again that they will try to do things differently. Injuries have a mental effect.

What are you talking about?! He suffered a lacerated kidney in 2015(missed 8 games) and then tore his ACL early last season(IR).

Two completely different types of injuries that would have no bearing on each other... And the mental effect is mostly after you come back from a limb injury and you have trouble trusting it(cutting, extending, etc...) again

I enjoy discussing draft, personnel moves as much as anyone, but as we said on the coaching thread...

There will be no bigger impact possible for this team than our new position coaches...

Mike Nolan has developed as many collegiate (Stanford, LSU, etc) and professional (Broncos, Giants, Ravens, Chargers, et al) HOF LBers as anyone...

Ryan Nielsen has impressive stops as a Defensive Coach including Ole Miss and NC State, absolutely transformed those defensive lines into ranked units...

And the return of one of the best WR coaches in Curtis Johnson, not to mention a long demanded change at Special Teams...

Can just still hear my Dad telling his brother-in-laws at family gatherings, holidays when Tom Landry's Cowboys or Bill Walsh's 49ers were winning -

"It's the Coaching, Stupid"...
Barry from MS likes this.

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...
