I don't understand how Payton views that as not a needsd position....

If he thinks Paul Kruger or Bobby Richardson will fit the job then he is sadly mistaken.

I wasnt thrilled with the lattimore pick but could live with it as it's defense, but the OT pick is a kick in the face.

Here is my short list of defensive players to select from tomorrow ...

Carl Lawson
Tim Williams
Jordan Willis
Ryan Anderson
Tanoh Kpassagnon
Daeshon Hall
Malik McDowell
Tyus Boser
Zach Cunningham

Still a lot of good defensive talent left and guys who can get to the QB.

Counting on Okafor and maybe some second round talent.

With a mental problem and a torn shoulder. Cunningham will be better and should be there at 45. Willis would be my pick. We have good luck with the de position from Kansas st

Are you kidding me???? There is probably 5-7 left that could start for us from day one! The best de in the draft, Willis, is still out there. We get Willis and then we Kupp in the 3rd I will do back flips

New Orleans Saints: Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State: A- Grade
The Saints are getting the best cornerback in the 2017 NFL Draft at No. 11. That's pretty good, although I thought Lattimore was going to be chosen 10th overall, so it's not like this is crazy value. It does seem like a great pick, however. Lattimore has some injury concerns, but he's a terrific talent, and he should be able to provide a huge boost for the Saints and their abysmal secondary. The Saints are definitely taking advantage of some of the stupid teams atop this draft.
...
Quote:

New Orleans Saints: Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin: D Grade
This pick received a ton of praise on TV, but I don't agree with it. Not one bit. Ryan Ramczyk has major injury concerns with his hip, and he quit on football once in his life. That makes him a big risk. He also doesn't fill a major need. Sure, the Saints could use a right tackle for the future, but Ramczyk isn't projected to play right away. Drew Brees doesn't have much time left, so New Orleans should've added more to its defense.

Good morning fellas! I purposely stayed off social media last night and just sat back and enjoyed the first round. I could not be happier with how things played out! Lattimore and Ramczyk were absolutely perfect picks!

Lots of edge rushers with starter potential still available so be patient guys. We're doing great so far.

Re: Saints NFL 2017 Draft Days In Game Discussion

I am just one of those people that think you always take the best talent available and that will help you much more than drafting for need. I liked what we did with our first two picks. No way to know if either will pan out, but they were good picks based off of where we were at and the situations surrounding all of that. I love offensive lineman. People on here have complained about how the Cowboys didn't get the sexy picks over the years but built their oline. Now we are doing the same and people are complaining. Being able to control the clock is also helpful to your D while they build to get better. I like these picks. If lattimore is over the hammies then man that kid looks like he could be really good

And look- at least we didn't draft a guy we never heard of out of the Nigerian semi-pro league.

Im disapointed that we missed out on one of the top DE still. If we can grab McDowell

CBS R2 mock

I will be a angry man

New Orleans Saints
DeShone Kizer , QB, Notre Dame Fighting Irish : At some point, the Saints need to plan for life after Drew Brees -- maybe that day is Friday.

NFL Mock

Josh Jones - S
School: N.C. State. Heavy hitter with outstanding physical traits continues the Saints' defensive revamp.

76. New Orleans Saints: Chris Godwin, WR, Penn State

103. New Orleans Saints: Brad Kaaya, QB, Miami

Yuk,wouldn't touch Kaaya with a 60ft stick

Re: Saints NFL 2017 Draft Days In Game Discussion

Walter Football

New Orleans Saints: Derek Rivers, DE/OLB, Youngstown State
The Saints want to select a pass-rusher in the first round. That didn't happen, but I'm sure they wouldn't mind landing Derek Rivers in the second round.

New Orleans Saints: Brad Kaaya, QB, Miami
The Saints don't have a successor for Drew Brees, so this could be the time to obtain a potential future quarterback.

New Orleans Saints: Duke Riley, LB, LSU
The Saints have needed to bolster their linebacking corps for years now, so perhaps this is when they'll actually get it done.

in my mock

42 - Marcus Williams FS Utah 6005 202 4.56 #20 Jr

76 - Tarell Basham DE Ohio 6036 269 4.70 #93 Sr

103 - George Kittle TE Iowa 6036 250 4.53 #46 rSr

So scratch them off the list of player the will draft even if they are on the board.

I like that we got the best DB in the draft, but I'm still miffed that we bypassed Barnett and the D end position.

Everyone here all offseason was saying front 7 will make the DB's better, SP just ignored that.

I hope to god our next few picks are up front, we have been getting beat at the line for years and I don't know how it wasn't addressed.

I like Barnett too. He is one of those guys that doesn't have the size people rave about, but he is just get a good football player. That said, I like what we did, I always believe BPA is what you should do. Plus, stay where you're at with all 4 picks or trade back. Just my opin.

The only frustration i have is i think they could have got a edge rusher with a trade with the Raiders. Coley was not going anywhere and we could have got a better DE by trading up

Seriously, all the good DEs are already off the board? I don't think so. Still want to smack anyone having us taking a QB in the first five rounds.

Why would we draft another DB before addressing some other areas in our D first?

So this should pretty much speed up the drive off the cliff for them...

Options I like for the Second Round:

DE Malik McDowell, Michigan St
CB Chidobe Awuzie, Colorado
RG Forrest Lamp, Western Kentucky
TE Adam Shaheen, Ashland
SS Obi Melifonwu, UConn
DE Jordan Willis, Kansas St
SS Josh Jones, NC State
LG Dan Feeney, Indiana
DE Tarell Basham, Ohio
DE Trey Hendrickson, Florida Atlantic

QB David Webb will probably go in the second because of the way this crazy ass draft is going...

2017 NFL Draft: 14 players to watch when the Saints pick on Day 2 | NOLA.com

Quote:

LB Zach Cunningham, Vanderbilt

He could be the Saints’ weakside linebacker of the future. He earned first-team All-American honors in 2016 with 125 total tackles, including 16½ tackles for a loss.

Quote:

OLB Tyrus Bowser, Houston

This would be like draft Vic Beasley on the size side with Bowser at 6-3 and 247 pounds. He tallied 8½ sacks in eight games in 2016. Why did he miss time last season? His teammate punched him breaking in bone in his face.
