The thing is, I want to include anyone who would like to participate but I just want a few different rules. You know, just some rules to keep it on topic and do something like the show \"around the horn\" or PTI.

You\'re a smart guy, WhoDat. Help a brotha out.

LOL. Can the preseason hurry up and start already so we can go back to arguing??? LOL

My suggestion would be to have an NCAA type tournament. Pick posters, let somebody (Joe) cede them, and go round by round one on one until you get a BnG champ. Reason being, then you have one on one debates, which can reasonably be managed and judged. Otherwise, 40 guys in an AB debate cannot be kept under control, as we have demonstrated about 50,000 times.

You also need to make sure that the \"winner\" is the one who argues his point better, not necessarily the person with the better point. For example, if you had to argue that the defense was good. If you based it on the point, you\'re going to lose to the guy arguing they suck every time. However, if you judge it by who makes the better argument for his position, then you can more easily select a winner. Of course, this assumes that the topics are given to you, and your position on the topic is also provided. Thus, I may have to argue for Brooks, not against him.

PS - what would be even cooler is to not do it all at once. Have 16 guys go now... then when their tourney is over, pick 16 more. That allows the rest of us to place bets. LOL.

You could then get to a final four or something like that.

WhoDat --

Well, that\'s one way and it would probably work. But, I\'m really not trying to win an individual award here. I\'m more interested in which \"SIDE\" can make the best arguement.

I don\'t need to win myself. But I\'d like to think that \"My Side\" of the aguement wins.

Of course this isn\'t going to prove anything. But it sure would be interesting if we could set something up along the lines of:

\"AROUND THE HORN\" -ON ESPN.

If done in the chat room, make it up like a \"debate team\" sort of thing. Once the teams are set, a series of questions/issues could be decided upon by the \"neutral\" parties or the moderators. Each team member would take a seperate and unique question in turn: in other words, only one representative from each side would be allowed to answer the given question in his/her turn. Then another member of each team would debate the next question, and so on. Points would then be rewarded accordingly, or the mods could simply decide which side\'s member presented his/her argument most effectively and reward a point that way.

The chat room would also allow those who are interested in the debate - but not in participating - to see the debate in real time.

Whaddaya think?

mutineer10 --

That\'s a great idea. Also, we need to utilize the chat room more. I also read where BlackandBlue suggested using the chat room. Props to both of you for that idea.

I had actually forgotten that B&B suggested it in the other thread because of everything else that was going on.

Also, mutineer10, I like the rest of your suggestions very much.

Hopefully, with everyone\'s help, we can get this things set up and under way very soon.

Thanks mutineer10. Good Job!

I\'ve got a great idea for a debate thread.

1. Lets start a topic about the Saints and have anyone who wants to participate post their thoughts. We could call it a \"forum\".

But of course we\'d need some rules to keep it from getting out of hand. Maybe top the rules at very beginning of all the listed topics open for debate. We could call it \"Forum Conduct Rules\" and have them UPDATED when necessary.

We\'d have to designate someone to police the threads and make sure the rules are followed. It would be a tough demanding thankless job but very necessary. We could call that person a \"Moderator\"

Yea, why didn\'t I think of that before?

Of couse this forum idea thingy could attract some indignant smart-arses also.

So when does this debate start -- I can start by saying my position -- I think Brooks has the physical abilities and attributes to be a top tier QB. I have been saying this all along. I also think that there are some serious problems with the intangibles of the game. I do not think he has learned to read defenses -- doesn\'t seem to check off properly on the line etc. So let me know when the debate actually starts

Danno - I was thinking the same thing.

I\'m just wondering how this would be different than the forum. If anything, it would be more frustrating. You\'ve got 20 guys who are Pro-Brooks and 20 who are Anti-Brooks, and you post once and then wait for 39 other guys to post before you get to post again? Yeah, where do I sign up!?!?!

How about, we just talk some football?
