Re: Back to the Past....Just Briefly!
Right, was Trey Hendrickson a "steal"? I dont think so. We could have had him in the 4th or 5th rd. We missed on some real solid potential. I just dont want this to be a regret draft.

Re: Back to the Past....Just Briefly!
Hendrickson would not have been there in the fourth round.
The Saints didn't have a fourth nor fifth round pick. Many mocks had him at the very spot we took him. Hendrickson was drafted with the right pick to the right place... |

We passed on Derek Rivers Tim Williams Terrel Basham Duke Riley Malik McDowell Daeshon Hall and Jordan Willis. For Alvin Kamara Alex Anzalone and Trey Hendrickson, Ok.

Hitting on guys in rounds 3-6 could take this team to new heights. Trey could end up a diamond in the rough. We should judge this pick a few years from now. |

Passed on Williams an LB who only managed to start two games his senior year because just maybe he lika the ganja just a bit too much for a high ceiling guy who had the misfortune to break his arm. Still all good. Basham? I'll almost give you that one, but had AA not broken his arm, he would've been rated way above Basham in the draft. I'll call that one a wash and that's still okay. Riley? He's from LSU and we all know how the Saints feel about that. He only had one year to show what he had. Everyone can throw out exceptions to the undersized LB thing, but most don't make it for long in the NFL. All kinds of red flags about Malik. The boy's known to go on vacation in the middle of plays, quarters and entire games. Still very ok. Now Hall would've been a solid pick. I'm thinking the staff felt their DL was sitting pretty good with who they had on both the player and coaching side and needed a good LB at that point more than a DL. Willis was in the wrong place. He would've been an okay pick for us, but Sean needed his joker back at 67 then he was gone by the time our next pick came around. Again, he's more sized to play LB than DE and I'm still thinking AA has a much higher ceiling than anyone else available at that spot. Especially now that we have a coach that can actually do his job. So yeah, I totally agree with you. We did OKAY with our draft choices there. We'll know for sure in the not too distant future. |
