I'll certainly take it. I'd rather play well, even against backups and vanilla plays, than to stink against it.

I can't take too much from this, but I see what appears to be a more active and quicker defense. The offense is void of the vast majority of it's best players, so I have no comment on them, other than we don't have sufficient depth on the offensive line, right now.

What was so impressive to me was the way the defense swarmed, attacked the ball, gang-tackling...

Seems like we've crossed the desert for forty years and not seen it till tonight...

It's PreSeason, It's early, but it was very, very encouraging...

Not going to get too high as I want to see us continue to build off this...

Take QB Kellen's rushing yardage away and we allowed the Chargers RB's only 40 yards on 26 carries. Holy crap!

Our LBs looked good. Teo, Klein and Anzalone. D-line looked improved. Much more pressure. I like what I see from Okafor btw.

I'd add Kikaha to the mix. Did you notice how often he gets held coming off the edge? If he remains healthy, he's trouble for opposing offenses.

I know it's pre season, teams are vanilla yada, yada but those linebackers are for real. You can see they've been coached up. That strip fumble last night by Sterling Moore was something Aaron Glenn did during his playing days.

This defense is going to surprise many for 2017.

That's what I have been preaching all off-season. This defensive makeup from coaching through personnel is nothing like what we have seen in the past. There is so much more speed and the new coaches are using it. So many in the media, and even around here, are mistakenly pointing to the defenses of the past three years when talking about the 2017 product. As I have pointed out before, the Saints have no position coaches and only two defensive players (Cam Jordan and Rafael Bush) left on the 90 man roster from three years ago. This defense, and for the most part the entire roster, has been rebuilt from the ground up. Usually when a team goes through this intensive of a rebuild they are hard-pressed to win four games, not to mention seven!

This year we are finally able to enjoy the fruits of the rebuild.
