The Saints First Draft Pick Revealed
Best thing about this: almost everyone agrees we\'ll be taking a defensive player.
Good. If we stay at 16, I wouldn\'t mind a DT or an OT. I really think we\'ll try and trade our spot; Thomas Davis is too much of a question mark at OLB. |

I agree with that. May the football gods be with me, and show me a trade down scenario in this year\'s draft.
Four glaring needs, but only 3 day one picks.... I see a solution. And I\'m not even paid. |

The Saints First Draft Pick Revealed
Know what this post proves?
There is absolutely no way that the Saints will select Carlos Rodgers, Travis Johnson, or Thomas Davis. How many people called Will Smith last year? None. Danno said it was a possibility if all other players we \"wanted\" were gone. I never saw it in a mock. The year before? Trufant... er... Sullivan. Any mock that said we moved up showed us moving up to get a CB or TOP DT. Even those that had us staying put didn\'t have us drafting Sullivan. How many people had us picking Deuce when Ricky was still around? No one. Point is, whoever is being predicted now is almost sure not to get picked by the Saints. They\'re too smart for us, afterall. LMAO. |

excatly--which scares me...and could be why the news media never talks about the saints-no one (including the saints) know what\'s going on with the saints.

Whodat is right. No matter how many of these mocks you read, the saints will do something unpredictable. This is why I don\'t usually get into the draft hoopla. Tell me who we have at the end of the day and then I\'ll do my research.
What\'s interesting to me is that there are many who see us going d-line. If you\'ve picked up as many 1st round d linemen as we have in the last few years and the issue still needs to be addressed, isn\'t that a serious indictment of your personnel evaluation? I mean, we have some guys i like (smith, grant), but how many years in a row can you address the same thing in the same way. (I guess that could start the coaching change thread, but I digress.) The other thing is the Cedric Benson pick. He\'s a good back, but if you look at this team and decide that Benson is the best way to address their needs in round one, I think you\'re high. Maybe this guy has an in with the front office |

The Saints First Draft Pick Revealed
Well this is a new and awfully cynical spin on things.
I guess you could look at it as the Saints always do something other than what people are predicting. It seems like the consensus of the football world outside of New Orleans thinks we should pick a DT, CB or LB. It seems to me that the rest of the football world outside of New Orleans has consistently been better. After all, the majority of NFL teams do normally perform better than us year after year. We should all hope(and this is very optimistic thinking for me) that the team does what the mocks say we will do. Maybe each year they think the Saints will actually get it together this time. |

I think we\'ll go CB-because this is the first year we don\'t NEED one..and when we needed one we didn\'t get one..so since we need a linebacker and a safety..we\'ll go corner. |

Yeah, I don\'t see the CB as a pressing first round need. I think either OT or LB makes the most sense.
As far as a DT goes, this organization put a lot on the line for one a couple of years ago. They need to try to get something out of Sully before they go grabbing another guy in the first. I\'m not saying we couldn\'t get better there, just saying that they made their bed with this pick. If you continue getting first round talent at one position, others go unaddressed. Look at QB...I\'m not a Brooks basher, but there is no other option, even as a backup. I would personally like to see a move to get DJ, if he\'s there between 6-10. If not, I say get Brown (OT) and then Blackstock in the 2nd....but I\'m no expert. |
