Optimist vs Pessimist

So I guess that means those who questioned the Orlando Ruff, Derrick Rodgers, Tesucky Jones, Jonathon Sullivan acquisitions are pessimists, even thought they were right.
WRONG! Questioning a player doesn\'t make you a pessimist. Many Optimists will also point out the negatives of a player also. Like Ruff being a good run stuffer, but not good in coverage. The pessimist won\'t even acknowledge anything positive about him.

Okay. I have yet to hear anyone poo-poo getting Dwight Smith, so how does your theory hold?
You must still be half asleep. I\'ve heard many harp on the character issue and the gun thing. But it was a good signing. Whats not to like?
What about Mayberry? I have heard noone have a problem with it if he was going to play guard. But if someone questions the fact he may be playing RT after only doing it for 4 games in his career they are a pessimist?
Not necessarily. I think you\'re smart enough to determine the difference between Optimism/Pessimism/Realism
Optimism-He\'s the answer at RT
Pessimism- He\'s gonna suck at RT
Realism-He\'s a solid player, but may struggle some at RT since he hasn\'t played it much.
See the difference or shall use other simple examples?
It\'s called a scouting report.
Gee, didn\'t know thats what they call \'em? Aw shucks.
Overdo it on the smartarse pills this morning?
There\'s usually two sections to a scouting report. Or do you ignore the \"positives\" section when we sign someone?

I guess I can\'t have the every guy is a hall of famer who wears black and gold motto Danno. Hope it works out for ya. How\'s it been so far?
When have I ever said anything of the sort?
ANSWER: NEVER!

Try a bloody Mary, they help.

Goes for everyone else you have labeled a pessimist. They have not said what you are suggesting. So you buying the bloody marys?

Only if they\'re \"positively\" spicy.

Oh, and who exactly did I label a pessimist? I named no one.
Answer: Those that point out every negative, and ignore every positive.

For example - there is a difference between saying that the Saints will never win anything with Brooks at QB b/c he sucks, and suggesting that an upgrade at the QB position is possible, worthwhile, and important.
You say tomato.....

Line up 20 losers and I\'ll bet you all 20 are Pessimists
So, that would mean that all of the Saints\' starters except Deuce and Horn are pessimists

Optimist vs Pessimist

Arguments can be made with our making comments about the other posters\' intentions. This is where many things get way off track. Furthermore, comments about other posters\' behaviors is almost always irrelevant information wise. Sure lots of us feel like we\'re friends here and have a good time poking fun at each other, but I feel like sometimes it sets a bad example for new posters. So in my role as a moderator, I ask people to please stop trying to figure out why people do things on the main forum (you can always PM them or put it in the everything else board). Just so no one takes this the wrong way: that is for everyone, and I do it only insofar as my job description seems to make it necessary.
I can\'t see where this converstation about individual posters\' level of optimism or pessimism is getting us (other than some cheeky and witty comments)? Could someone tell me why this is relevant to Football?

My personal view is that it is an attempt to figure out why people don\'t agree with what one takes to be a good argument. If that is all it is, save it for PM\'s or individual threads. A general overview and discussion of peoples\' attitude can\'t do much more than upset some people.
