Deuce doesn't help the offense much?!
I know some of you think that Deuce is the next Walter Payton, but Deuce doesn\'t fair well with other RBs where scoring is concerned.
Furthermore, Deuce hasn\'t been very succesful on 3rd and short situations. But, I really don\'t think that Deuce is to blame. But, it is a problem. Penalties have really killed the offense and that\'s limited Deuce\'s carries in scoring opportunites. And the offensive line hasn\'t opened many holes on 3rd and short situations. In fact, Decue often gets met behind the line of scrimmage. And injuries have also hurt Deuce\'s scoring... [Edited on 8/4/2005 by GumboBC] |

Deuce doesn't help the offense much?!
It\'s true that goaline options, o-line play, and goaline packages all affect this stat. Plus, we also play in a division with strong run defenses, and yes scoring is an important stat, but it is clear that stats can be very relative, and record is the only one that counts, and most of the running backs mentioned haven\'t helped their team win much more than the saints have!

And dont forget about being down by 30 points by the 2nd qt, and having to throw 40 to 60 times to compete. (that kinda hurts the running game dont it?)

1. Duece is a good back. Sure he can be a bit sulky, injured, and overweight. However, with a bit better line play, better offensive packages (no more 2TE carp), and better thought through play calling, he\'ll be fine.
2. Our passing game is actually not all that inept. We were the 12th best in passing and 27th in rushing last year. The other team didn\'t just keep stacking the box while we passed all over them either. 3. Stats are not relative. They are an impoverished description of what occured, but they are factual. The real problem is that they require an interpretation, and that can be relative (however, some interpretations are better than others, and that is not relative). 4. Welcome abord alligator and kojak. Good to have you. |

Deuce doesn't help the offense much?!
He gets first downs and moves the chains. He keeps the drive alive. Then Brooks throws into quadruple coverage and gets picked off. Sounds familiar!!

I think you have to blame at least half of it on the play calling. There is plenty of blame to go around. Our defense didn\'t help either. When we can\'t score in the first quarter how do we expect to run the ball 25 times a game.

Real simple , when a team is playing from behind it takes some of the sting out of the running game . To give you some idea of exactly how far back Brooks put\'s the running game with his slow starts , let\'s look at the first quarter completion totals of N.F.C. quarterbacks in 2004 . Those turf balls are killers when an offense is trying to set tempo in the first quarter . Brian Griese TB 78.6 Marc Bulger STL 73.6 Daunte Culpepper MIN 70.5 Donovan McNabb PHI 69.6 Tim Rattay SF 68.4 Jake Delhomme CAR 68.2 Kurt Warner NYG 68.2 Patrick Ramsey WAS 68 Vinny Testaverde DAL 63.6 Michael Vick ATL 63.1 Matt Hasselbeck SEA 63 Brett Favre GB 60.8 Joey Harrington DET 58.2 Josh McCown ARI 57.1 Aaron Brooks NO 55.6 Mark Brunell WAS 49.3 Notice , both Brunell and McCown were benched for poor play .....
