Henderson: Saints feel they have no glaring weaknesses heading into draft.

Jim Henderson / WWL-TV Sports Director

It's hard to say that a team coming off of an 8-8 season has no glaring needs, but I think the Saints feel that they don't have any glaring, must handle needs and this is a good draft for that kind of situation, because it isn't loaded with top-line players.

I think the Saints want to build depth and get a lot of picks.

I think you may see them move down to collect extra picks and they will continue to dangle defensive End Darren Howard ...

Article
Note: This is only Jim Henderson's opinion and it does not say this is the way Haslett or Loomis feels.

With that said ... That's exactly the same approach that Haslett and Loomis have used in the past. While the Saints have drafted some very good players like Charles Grant, Will Smith, and Deuce .. they really haven't addressed "key" areas of need.

That, in my opinion, is why our linebacker corp has be so weak!!

Luckily for us it seems that we can pickup a good LB in the 2nd round. But, I think the Saints should do WHATEVER it takes to FINIALLY address the LB situation.

Enough playing around !!

Why, that almost sounds as if you are being critical of the Saints. Careful.

changing one starter on each side of the ball in free agency sez you must be pretty content with what you have. actions speak louder than any words.

yup, watch it... criticism=skepticism=pessimism=loser

OK, drafting by the BPA scenario is a nice strategy if your team does not have any needs. Now that things could possibly turn out nice with Will Smith panning out well and us possibly getting another pick for Howard Im ok with the pick. But last year, and this is strictly my opinion/theory, I honestly think that the Saints panicked when Denver picked DJ Williams and they just went ahead and got the best value pick they could. I dont think many people saw Denver(who already had one of the more athletic LB cores in the league in place last year) would draft DJ Williams. I think the Saints were not prepared last year. However, I do not think that BPA is the way to go. Now hopefully all the talk the Saints have made is just a smokescreen and hopefully Jim Henderson is wrong, but as someone else posted a few days ago(I think it was Kelley or Gumbo) there are certain positions that if they are drafted in the first two maybe even 3 round, I am going to drop kick my television into Tiger Stadium.

I\'m with you BC. I wouldve been content with just one major LB FA being signed. Year after year, after year, our D gets trucked and hammered in the running game. Something has to happen.

everything i have read about this draft says that there is a lot of talent in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. moving down might not be the worst of ideas

Drafting the BPA has worked out good for us, but we really need to address LB;however if DJ and Davis are gone by #16 then we should go BPA(except DE).

I thought he died.

Oh well, you really going to value the opinion of someone who constantly has his hand up a muppet\'s ass?

Oop\'s sorry, you fail. The correct answer is...

Criticism + skepticism + pessimism - hope - optimism - reality = Loser ^3

Do your homework next time please.
