this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; NFL QB: Only the strong-minded will survive. Having said that, I'm absolutely a 2nd (and even 3rd) chance guy. We all do stupid things sometimes. Well, I mean "I" never have, but some of you thugs peg the needle....

Re: Manziel
Sort of off topic but I don't get the Baker Mayfield /Manziel comparisons either. Outside of height, these guys are far apart. Johnny B Good was all over the place with his footwork up in Cleveland & throwing it up for grabs.
Baker doesn't do any of that. Not a lot of stupid throws, unnecessary risks. He surveys the field then takes off when no other options (see Russell W). I don't believe Manziel is NFL material ... or even a capable starter. |

Pass.
You don't fall of the face of the football earth and come back a few years later and become instantly successful, especially if you are a low-character guy to begin with. best of luck. If Vince McMahon calls, grab it on the first ring. |

Re: Manziel
Agree. Brees is probably the most accurate passer to ever play in the NFL. He also has an abundance of two other qualities absolutely required: 1) Intelligence and 2) Leadership. Not sure if Johnny was gifted with much of either....

Re: Manziel
He is not a team first person. When he walked out on stage at the draft he was rubbing his fingers and basically saying show me the money. He was spoiled and fell into a thug mentality. He never devoted himself before and I don't want to take the chance that this time he means it.
I don't want any part of Johnny Manziel! |
