Saints Could Trade For Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I’ve seen a few reporters saying that the Saints could be one of the teams interested in trading for Landry, but their great insight basically amounts to it being because he’s from Louisiana lol....

I think we sign mid-level vets and draft well in 2018. The only position I could justify a big contract is middle linebacker.
I think if I were in their shoes, I'd just get over it. It's not like either of those players are going to lose their jobs. So is it about winning or is it about egos? If you let egos run a team, then you lose.

I can' imagine why any Saints fan would not want Jarvis Landry, as long as he doesn't cost you too many assets. He probably has the best hands in the league and while he isn't a burner, he has a lot more open field quickness than Thomas. He's played in a bad offense. I guarantee he'd blow it up with an actual NFL QB.

I don't believe the Saints have a reliable weapon at receiver other than Thomas, so why the heck should Thomas object?

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

What I'm starting to gather is that a lot of folks want us to somehow win a Championship using coupons.

Yeah, there has to be a limit for how much you pay, or how much you give up for one player. But you don't get anything for free. What I'm reading in this thread is some people seem to think Landry isn't worth giving up much of anything, and that he isn't a need for the team. I just don't get that.

You can plug in guys all day long, but that's all most of them will be... plugs. Jarvis Landry's don't grow on trees. I don't know, someone will probably criticize me for commenting on the Saints, but some of what I read just made me scratch my head.

They come from the same place he came from, the draft.

I wouldnt exactly say we would be "overpaying" for Landry. He has more catches over the past 3 years than any other WR.

Love Free agency. We now have the opportunity to re-do two poor drafts when we could've taken WR Landry in the 2nd (vice CB SJB in 2014) and NT Danny Shelton (except he was taken just before we selected Peat in 2015).

When I look at Landry's numbers I am puzzled. He has a ton of catches, but not the yardage. Can't really say it was all Cutler, the previous 3 seasons was rather low too. Known for his work ethics, seems to have decent speed, not sure about this guy.

No first round picks unless they throw in a good CB or OL.
