They don't have confidence in their QB's to get the ball down the field, and they really haven't had anyone to draw attention away from Landry.

If you watch him on punt returns, you can see what kind of elusiveness he has. If you can get him the ball in space, he might not have elite speed, but he's going to make big plays with his quickness. And he has both elite hands AND route running. The draft will always give you the guys with the "measurables", but many are bad at route running, and have average to below average hands, and little toughness.

He is elusive and runs good routes but I would rather get a second tier or #2 in free agency than give up our 1st and play big money to Landry. We just don’t need to spend that kind of money and give up our 1st for a WR. We have shown over the last 12 seasons that we can plug and play. If he was a FA then maybe but given no up the draft pick and paying north of $10M is too much. I truly believe we have one of the best route teaching and technique teaching WRs coach in the league. I want a 6-2+ that can stretch the field and I see some in the draft that could come in and contribute that would cost a lot less. I believe we need to address the TE spot more than WR.

The problem with the plug and play has always been that the Saints don't do well against the better teams in the league. In the Saints best years they've had legitimate talent, and a dominant offensive line.

The last couple of years have seen the WR play (other than Thomas) struggle mightily, to the point that the Saints had to change their philosophy and become a running team.

As for as tight end goes, I guess it depends on what you want out of that position. I think if you have good WR's, you don't need to spend money or picks on pass catching tight ends. You just needs TE's who can block. Given the suprising emergence of ground game last year, I would think having TE's who can shore up the line of scrimmage would be a priority. Fleener (and the rumored Graham reunion) don't really provide that.

I completely get where you are coming from about not wanting to over pay. I'm just not convinced it will cost all that much in picks, and think the money wouldn't be unreasonable. But who knows.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Mike Evans just signed monster deal with Tampa. 5 years 82,5 mil, 55 mil gtd. Evans is way overrated. Physical corners can easily manhandle him.

Landry is more complete player. He is gonna get paid.

Lattimore and Crawley completely blanketed him. At that price tag, he's extremely overrated. I won't complain though with Tampa continuing to make decisions like that.

With that cap space they can afford to give him maybe even more money than what Mike Evans got.
