Like Stallworth & Lawrence's potential. The interior DLine will be amazing if 1 or both can rotate with our starters...our 2nd half D will only be better if all those guys are fresh.

SEC...D-lineman factory.

Kind of pre mature for the "bust" label.

Davenport is very young, coming from a small football program & then suddenly graduating to playing with grown men. There will be growing pains. If he turns it on THIS YEAR, that would be outstanding but it's not the end all be all. Once healthy, I see him being used in the rotation as depth for year 1 unless he proves otherwise. The lynch mob was all over Jadeveon Clowney (lots of injuries in year 1) after his rookie season too. 3 years later he's a beast at the position.

Give Mr. Davenport some time.

The "time" he needs is in the preseason games and on the practice field going against grown NFL offenses & o linemen. No way he's a bust...yet. But it is concerning that he's rarely practiced since TC has started. As I said in another thread, I'm seeing a red shirt this year. If he contributes this year then fantastic, but I'm not seeing it. We have DEs across from Cam that can play and getting regular season fit right now, miles ahead of Davenport.

From my understanding Davenport is soaking up knowledge like crazy while getting back to %100. You don't have to be out on the practice field to learn the nuances of the position. You can learn by watching tons of tape and by learning from your coach (perhaps the best defensive line coach in the NFL) and your fellow players (Cam Jordan has apparently taken him under his wing). He'll get his chance to use what he is learning soon. Just because he hasn't hit the field yet doesn't mean he isn't working.

Marcus Davenport picking the brain of fellow first-rounder Cam Jordan

The black and gold defense was a big reason why the franchise made a return trip to the playoffs for the first time in three seasons, but one aspect that they want to improve on from a year ago is their pass rush.

The Saints were tied seventh overall in the sacks category (42), but tailed off in the final game of the postseason against the Vikings. With first round draft pick Marcus Davenport working into fold he's trying to pick the brain of a fellow first rounder Cam Jordan.

"Yeah I always talk to him especially after a rep. He'll pull me over to the side, give me some constructive criticism. Help me out, try to get my mind right for the next play and yeah really, he's like a big brother helping me out."

Speaking about being a first round draft pick Davenport said, "Honestly, I felt the pressure and you know it's in the air, but luckily with my coaches, with teammates, they've helped me to not even think about it. It's more about improving on a daily basis, every day getting better because we got big goals and I want to be able to contribute."

Davenport was drafted 14th overall in the 2018 draft while Jordan was drafted 24th overall in 2011.
