I'm not sure if we cut Sullivan that we'll get our cap money back this year. I think some of these contracts are guarenteed and we may still would have to pay him another season. I might be wrong, anyone have anything to enlighten about this?

I don't think there will be any postive monetary result in '05 from cutting this group. Now, it might really help next year, but Sully's signing bonus would be accelerated into this year's cap if he is cut before June 1 and it would be spread between '05 and '06 if cut after.
I see him as a June 1, '06 cut, if he doesn't show that he's worth something this year. |

Does Lyman even have a contract?
Cutting Sully will cost us more than we're paying him in terms of the cap this year. His salary is only just over 1 mil for this year, but his accelerated signing bonus makes his cap hit in the range of 5 mil (though, that may need to be checked). I don't see any reason to knock Ruff off just yet. He was a starter for many games last year, and even though I'm excited about our sophomore LBs, I like Ruff as insurance. Not only that he has a lot of experience in the NFL, and he isn't a locker room cancer of any kind. I'm with you on Cie. I don't know why he is still on the roster. |
