Rez hides behind his "culture" theme because he's racially bias and he believes white people owe black people some sort of daily pass for anything and everything because of slavery. He has a victim mentality and has an excuse for everything.

I blocked him a long time ago. Its unfortunate too. He's very intelligent and I enjoyed his insight into football. But his real personality and hidden agenda were too much for me to handle.
You're absolutely right about what this "culture" thing really is with him. His bias has always been evident. Culture is the word his type always hides behind, and we're supposed to respect that somehow. We can't question the fruits of this culture, or we are bigots.

I know what he really means when he says these things, and I just want him to finally admit it. It is probably a waste of time waiting on that, though.

Hmmm?
Most of us are upfront about who we are and what our beliefs and intentions are. Then there are some who try to pretend to be cool and above it all, but they are really just miserable, hateful people behind the facade. It's unfortunate.

You like his personality, even though he makes it clear how biased his views are. Good for you.

I feel sorry for those miserable, hateful people. I am blessed that I have a wonderful life, a wonderful family and a wonderful group of friends. I can tell you that Rez has the same. I am blessed that Rez happens to be one of those friends.

His views are no more biased than any others. They just happen to be different than yours. We all have bias based views of the world. It all depends upon what culture impacted our development.

I grew up in the 70s... We talked sh1t. Ali was talking sh1t on national television before I was born. This is not a 'modern' or 'internet' thing.

NFL players have been talking sh1t to each other across the line as long as there has been a line. Know what.. catchers do it to batters in baseball also.

I dont have any issue with what athletes do off the field on their own time.

As far as the implications of the word 'professional'.. Professional just indicates what someones primary occupation is. Prostitutes are professionals and there doesn't seem to be any expectation of conduct.

Many of us are professionals on the clock, and we still talk sh1t in these very public forums on our time off. Lets not be hypocrites.

I'm glad you have a wonderful life. That's good. But your closing statement is completely untrue.

He is FAR more biased than most people. You see, there are differences of opinion, and then there are liars who will make up any pitiful excuse to get out from under the foot that is stomping on them in an argument. That's about as respectfully blunt as I can put it.

Your defense of him is nothing more than a cop out, and not a strong one, at that. I don't give two cents about cultural impacts. I prefer to deal in reality. Something called facts, or truth. Truth is absolute. The old line that says "there are no wrong opinions, just different one's", or any such variation of that, is a lie. If you have a room with ten people in it, and they all have a different opinion, it's possible that they are all wrong... But it is IMPOSSIBLE that they can all be right. The truth is what it is, regardless of your viewpoint.

I don't base my opinions on the person we're speaking about off of a viewpoint. I have the same view of him as everyone else in here. He consistently makes up excuses for black people, and has come straight out and said in the past that he believes white people owe reparations.

That's his viewpoint, alright. And it's a racist viewpoint. It's not even a debate.

You're talking about trash talk ON the field. I don't care so much about that, though I still think it's petty. At least it's better than whining over their twitters like teenage girls.

As for Ali, I have no respect for the way he conducted himself. Great boxer. But a stuck up person. It's not simply a matter of if he's a professional or not, it's just common decency, or lack thereof.

And the prostitute example? Yeah they are paid to be gross. That's their profession. Of course they don't have an expectation of conduct. There are different professions with different standards and expectations. When you represent an organization, and you are paid millions of dollars, there is absolutely an expectation to conduct yourself with some kind of class and dignity. Someone else made mention of the conduct policy earlier. That policy is there for a reason. Are you going to argue that? Really?

Does anyone on this site feud for weeks with another poster? Do any of us have millions of "followers" reading what we say? Do we argue like children? Whenever a person displays bad behavior around here, that person gets called out. I can think of a few off the top of my head who haven't posted in a while because they've either been banned, or they got tired of us telling them off.

So, no, I don't think we're being hypocrites.

I know some times what I say goes right over your head... but Ali talked trash on national television was in my reply.

Look! Old white people talking sh1t and the NFL promoting it.

OMG.. Old white professionals talking trash on national television.

Now your next reply will be another attempt at why its different. It isn't. Its all sh1t talking, and none of it is new.

My defense, if you wish to call it that, is nothing but what I know of my friend. I am a devout Reagan Republican (based upon my cultural upbringing) and yet, also being brought up as the son of a 30+ year military member I have learned to see and respect other cultural viewpoints. Rez understands where I stand on certain issues and I understand his. We also have many that coexist. Rez needs no help from me. He has a journey in mind and I respect that journey. I don't think it requires your help at all. So, don't worry.

Oh, and ...

18-1 Baby!

Re: Micharl Thomas fined $10,026

I have no idea where anyone on these boards grew up or what environment they grew up in...

I know I went to Herod Elementary in Abbeville Louisiana in the 70s/80s.. There was a 10' chain link fence and the other side were the projects. There are people so poor they only have attitude and can only afford to talk sh1t... That is what they know. Some are lucky enough to find a way out but that doesn't mean they forgot where they came from.

Beyond that I have lived in at least five countries... I have had white Frenchmen CDG airport say things they didnt think I could understand (in French), and I have had Nigerians take me into their church and homes.

People everywhere are different. Not better. Not worse. Just different, and that's a good thing.

Now your next reply will be another attempt at why its different. It isn't. Its all sh1t talking, and none of it is new.
Wow... I'm almost at a loss for words at how incredibly bad a case you just presented.

Let me start from the top: You claim that things you say often go over my head. That is incorrect. In fact, you often say things that make little sense and when I point out the inconsistencies, or just plain nonsense, of some of the things you say, you always claim that I just don't understand you. Your unwillingness, or inability, to clarify with anything that makes sense leads me to believe that you don't really know what you're trying to say.

Now that we've dealt with that issue, on to the next: You followed up your claim that what you say goes over my head, by telling me that you said Ali talked trash on national television in your previous reply... Yeah... Didn't I acknowledge that and tell you that I didn't respect the way he handled himself? How is it that you believe that went over my head? If you're going to insult my intelligence, at least bother to read what I said before you put your foot in your mouth.

And then what did you do? You showed a video of FAKE trash talking on a commercial and used that to make your point? Then you used video from a celebrity roast, of which trash talking is the whole point and is done in jest for entertainment? Really?... Really, man?

Let me put that aside for just a second and get back to the principle of the whole argument. I don't care how long trash talking has been around, and playful banter is a completely different type of trash talk. We're talking about people acting like teenagers on social media. It's petty.

The likes of Ali, I have no more respect for. That kind of nonsense is bush league, period.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
