this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Hopefully he still has something left in the tank. And, hopefully, they go easy on him in practice....

Re: Saints sign Brandon Marshall
I'm not worried about his hands (still holds the record for receptions in a single game), I'm worried about his legs. Can he get separation on routes or will he just be in for endzone jump balls?

Re: Saints sign Brandon Marshall
I think he did have something of a streaky reputation early in his career, that seems about right. He also had a bit of a troublemaker rep when he was younger. To his credit though, he worked on both issues and they haven't been a problem for years. The bad attitude was the result of some mental issues, which he has been getting regular treatment and therapy for since several years ago and hasn't had any sort of drama. He's a pretty outspoken advocate for mental health awareness these days. And as far as on the field stuff goes, he's been a dependable pass catcher for the better part of a decade. Don't get me wrong, I'm not super excited about the signing or anything. He's pretty far from his prime, but I don't think you have anything to worry about, aside from whether he can learn the offense and get open.

The thing I like about Marshall is he is a terrific run-blocker. Maybe just let him run hitches and sideline routes and run block until he gets more familiar with our offense. Also he's been in a ton of different offenses over his career so he should be used to adapting, right?

Not a fan. But, if he has anything left, Brees will make him look good.
