Not to point out the negative about yesterday
Before I get into the offense I have to give kudos to our D. 48 points wasn’t shocking but holding them to 7 is mind blowing. Their offense was supposed to be good enough to keep up with us. Golden Taint was a non factor and seeing turnovers was great.
Anyway, did anyone else notice a lot of confusion lining up on offense. Delay of game, false starts, forced time outs etc. seems like they were having a tough time getting on the same page at certain points. In the end it didn’t matter but that could kill us against a healthier D. Anyone else notice this? Is Payton getting too elaborate or confusing with his play calling? |

Nope. Didn't notice it. I tend to concentrate on positives when my team demolishes an opponent 48-7.

Re: Not to point out the negative about yesterday
It looked to me like the normal Saints offense. There was one time out used in the first half where the play clock was winding down, but it was an important down anyway (I think it was a 3rd down on the edge of field goal range) and they had a comfortable lead, so no big deal there. Read the Peter King article today, a lot of things with the offense get sorted out in their meetings on Saturday night. Not bad at all, if they're able to be this good, by Drew and Payton picking out the best plays in the hotel suite, the night before the game. It's all good!

Re: Not to point out the negative about yesterday
I saw one play where Drew said, "I didn't get the play." He was smiling. The other stuff was probably due to Drew doing his normal checks prior to snaps. You've also got a very young WR core and even TE Arnold.
All in all, it was not a problem. And there were only 3 such times I saw it. When you're lining up a PS WR and TE with a rookie WR, it takes time to get in sync. 48-7...I dont see an issue man. |

Didn't really see much or worth mentioning. Well played game by NO. In all phases of the game.
This is somewhat petty however in garbage time, Ken Crawley was flagged for pass int . Luckily Banjo bailed him out with the INT to keep the Feagles off the board late. |

Re: Not to point out the negative about yesterday
Like JNormand, lining up inexperienced WRs seemed to be the issue. Carr was fumbling around a few times getting lined up, too. It wasn't pass protection from what I saw. TQ, Carr, Arnold & Kirkwood are all younguns.
This offense has always given me stress taking the clock so far down & burning timeouts on offense and that was with experienced guys lining up over the years. I imagine all the personnel changes play-to-play is not easy. We're fine. Just lots of moving parts. |

I agree with the theory on new players.
I did notice an almost deliberate run down of the play clock on lots of plays. Meaning, our offense runs on temp and we control it. The more the play clock ticks, the more time of possession we have. |

Re: Not to point out the negative about yesterday
In the end it didn’t matter but.............
I blame Payton, he's insane, doing "film studies and walk throughs" It's obvious the Eagles didn't use up precious energy with such nonsense!!! |
