A few finer points:

1. That pick-6 essentially sealed the game. It was a decisive turnover.

2. The MVP was awarded the night before as the NFL MVP is a regular season award. Of course one of the implied criteria is that the MVP's team plays that year at a playoff level of quality. So often in the eventual MVP is in the playoffs at some point.

3. Brees of course won the Super Bowl MVP. His stat line for the game was sick: 32 of 39 for 288 with 2 TDs no picks and a 114.5 passer rating.

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

Exactly! And the Super Bowl MVP means much more than the regular season MVP, because it means you won it all.

D'uh!

Mahommes is very talented and has a bright future. He will have plenty of opportunities to win MVP. If they pass Drew over for him, then I argue the award becomes a complete joke.

Drew doesn’t get the attention he deserves but Rivers really gets the shaft when it comes to media attention and discussion about elite QBs. Rivers has had an excellent career and has performed on an elite level his entire career yet his name is rarely mentioned. At least the national media puts Brees in the discussion when it comes to the HOF or GOAT but Rivers gets treated as an average QB. No, he’s no Brees but he’s been playing at a high level for a very long time. No wonder Eli refused to go to San Diego

Um, Cam Newton and Matt Ryan already has one while Brees does not. So isn't it really already a joke?

Re: Brees ,rivers, mahommes

I don’t know if you guys have noticed this trend, but the MVP never wins the Super Bowl nowadays. Check it out:

2017: Tom Brady- Lost Super Bowl
2016: Matt Ryan- Lost Super Bowl
2015: Cam Newton- Lost Super Bowl
2014: Aaron Rodgers- No Super Bowl appearance
2013: Payton Manning- Lost Super Bowl
2012: Adrian Peterson- No Super Bowl appearance
2011: Aaron Rodgers- No Super Bowl appearance
2010: Tom Brady- No Super Bowl appearance
2009: Payton Manning- Lost Super Bowl
2008: Payton Manning- No Super Bowl appearance
2007: Tom Brady- Lost Super Bowl

In fact, the last time the league MVP won the Super Bowl was Kurt Warner in 1999. It’s almost like a curse. If that’s the case, Patrick Mahomes can have the damn thing!
