This is really one of the hardest parts of being a Saints fan, is dealing with the old school negative nancies who feel the sky is constantly about to fall, because they were traumatized in their childhoods by so many really terrible Saints teams. And I understand them PERFECTLY, I really do. There was definitely a long era for the Saints where basically anything that could go wrong, DID, and I was there for all of it.

Many long time Saints fans of a certain age, have STILL not really adjusted to the new reality we've been living in since '06. I feel for them, I really do. I love those fans, I will never flame them or insult them or get mad at any of those old school Saints fans you see around, who still feel that way -- that something terrible is about to happen to the Saints at any minute. But that spell was broken forever, with the Lombardi in '09.

Really for me the spell was broken with the '06 season after Katrina, there were so many magical signs and signals that year that something truly special was brewing, but FOR REAL there's no denying the spell was broken and the glass was shattered with the Lombardi and/or the Tracy Porter pick of Favre in the NFC Championship game.

That was a great article though. "If we aren’t going to believe in this Saints team, when exactly are we going to?"

I'm as old school as you can get having moved to Louisiana in the late Spring of 1967 and adopting the Saints as my team immediately. The difference is that I have never felt any negativity about my Saints over all these years. I have always felt that the next game was going to be a win and the next season was going to bring us a Super Bowl. Thinking negative thoughts does absolutely nothing to help my team win. I can only hope that positive vibes may help in some sort of mystical manner.

You're a rare breed and one I admire. I consider myself optimistic but pragmatic so that leaves me seeing both sides but believing we CAN and should win ---- IF we play to our potential.

What I don't bring to 2019 is the shortcomings of 2011 and 2013. This is a new team and a new attitude. Let's go get this win baby
