Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft Prospects (NFL Combine)
Ole Miss WR D.K. Metcalf at 6' 4", 224 lbs. (1.9% body fat) is an absolute unit!
Sadly his route running and hands are 3rd round at best - but someone will reach for him in the first round... |

So glad Sean traded nearly everything away so we wouldn't have to worry about being tempted to draft guys like this...

Having speed is great and all but you must have mastery of the route tree at this level of football. I'd argue his former team mate at Ole Miss Demarkus Lodge (was impressive here in Dallas/Cedar Hill High) is a more proven/polished route runner. |
Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft Prospects (NFL Combine)
I'll take THE Ohio State Parris Campbell off my WR list ...
Ran a 4.31 40. To put that into perspective .. Tyreek "Cheetah" Hill ran 4.28 at his Pro Day. |
Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft Prospects (NFL Combine)
I think one guy we could take a flier on in the late rounds as a possible successor to Brees is Trace McSorley. He is very passionate and seems like a good leader. He has enough physical tools to work with and could be very coach-able. Just have a good gut feeling on him.

I love the idea of picking Benny Snell, I can’t lie.

DK Metcalf’s 3-cone and shuttle times were pretty bad though surprisingly (7.38 and 4.50 respectively.)

I still hate the NFL cuz its rigged but just in case I end up watching again the Saints should draft Greedy Williams and Foster Moreau from LSU. Devin White would be a great pick but he'll be gone in the first 30 min of the draft. Greedy might be gone that quick too actually. Yes. LSU might have had the best LB and the best DB in the nation last year. If we can't get them, we're weak at TE and Foster Moreau could be a late round steal. And yes Danno we should look at Irv Smith Jr too.

Sean Payton: Trace McSorley could be the next Julian Edelman
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ulian-edelman/ Saints coach Sean Payton told Peter King for Football Morning in America that McSorley reminds him of Julian Edelman, a three-year starting quarterback at Kent State who became a seventh-round pick of the Patriots in 2009 and is now the reigning Super Bowl MVP. “When I looked at him, my first thought was, ‘I wonder if he can be Edelman?’ I wondered if he could be a versatile kind of guy,” Payton said. |

If it doesn't work out with Plan A (QB), it's nice to know that a HC of Sean's caliber see traits of Julian in you as a slot WR. That could take you a long way if he puts in work. I actually see it as a compliment from Payton. The good to above average coaches see things in players that the average joe will never see on the football field. See Bill Belichick. |
Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft Prospects (NFL Combine)
Another LSU Tiger ... Greedy Williams runs a 4.38 (top performer) 40 at the combine. What he did well is turning his hips and head around for the ball while in flight. In today's passing league, that's an important skill set to have.
I'll be critical here though ... he needs to hit the weight room hard this off season. He is a tad bit on the slim side. Adding a little bulk will do his body good. Lots of strong, physical WR's he'll be going up against each week. He's definitely gone on Day 1 though. |

Report: Saints 'enamored' with receivers in 2019 draft class
https://saintswire.usatoday.com/2019...mpression=true New Orleans still likes its younger receivers, particularly Keith Kirkwood. Plus, the Saints are enamored with the depth of this year’s draft class. A receiver could easily be in play with the team’s first pick, at No. 62 overall, late in the second round. |

Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft Prospects (NFL Combine)
Been a while since i posted here. But as always...back around draft time. Emanuel Hall solidified what i saw on tape with his combine performance. Greg Dortch is one of my favorite options at WR late in the draft. Size(5’7) will keep him down but he’s everything sean thinks he has in Tommylee Lewis. Great tape at Wake Forest and could surprise if he lands with the right team. Amani Oruwariye is probably my favorite round 2 corner and Isaiah Johnson probably moved up somewhere in day 2. Have so many prospects i like. Finished up my top 300 whiteboard this week i do every year. Getting excited...just wish we had more than 1 pick in the first 4 rounds. Hopefully ol’ Sean holds true in his “draft picks are easy to get” comment.
I fully expect them to move up into the early/mid 2nd if there is someone in their cloud still sitting there. 1st round is probably not gonna happen but adding a 3rd or 4th is probably likely. |
