Interesting stuff from a great draft site:

https://thedraftnetwork.com/2019/02/...ds-mock-draft/

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS PRE-COMBINE 7-ROUNDS MOCK DRAFT

Round 2, Pick No. 62: Dawson Knox, TE, Ole Miss

Though the Saints don’t have many needs on their roster, tight end is likely that you would call their top need. They haven’t had an impact player at that position since Jimmy Graham’s golden days. If quarterback Drew Brees wants to play another year or two with the success he’s used to, he could use an offensive weapon from the tight end position. Dawson Knox was very underutilized during his time at Ole Miss, but the talent is evident when you watch the tape. Lack of production — via lack of targets and emphasis — is why Knox would be picked this late, but he would be a perfect fit.

Round 5, Pick No. 158: Benny Snell, RB, Kentucky

Running back Mark Ingram is set to hit free agency, and with Alvin Kamara already on the roster, paying a pretty penny for a running back just to be in a committee wouldn’t be the most wise decision they could make. If they don’t, drafting a player like Benny Snell could be a big hit. Snell’s talent, style of running and personality would fit great in New Orleans and with Kamara.

Round 6, Pick No. 164: Deshaun Davis, LB, Auburn

I like the idea of this pick because Davis is a smart, instinctual linebacker, albeit limited athletically, who would be a great player to add to a linebacker room. It works out for the Saints specifically because they already have Alex Anzalone to play full time in the middle, and can rotate Davis in at a variety of different spots. Analone is also injury prone, so having Davis as a backup play would be good for them.

Round 6, Pick No. 190: Tim Harris, CB, Virginia

The Saints are pretty set at defensive back when it comes to their starters. Players like Marshon Lattimore, Eli Apple, Marcus Williams, Von Bell and Kurt Coleman have put together a strong defensive back unit. But that’s not to say they couldn’t improve on some depth. Harris is a taller, longer cornerback who fits the Saints’ defensive back type. Harris played great down the stretch during East-West Shrine Week.

Round 7, Pick No. 222: Jalen Hurd, WR, Baylor

The Saints are pretty set a wide receiver with guys like Michael Thomas and Tre’Quan Smith at the top, plus Cam Meredith, Ted Ginn and even Dez Bryant potentially all on the roster as well. But Bryant is a free agent, and though he said he would like to be back, the Saints don’t know what his availability is going to be like with his health. Hurd, as a big, strong receiver, could be a nice red zone piece they don’t have right now.

Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft Prospects (NFL Combine)

This will be a deep draft for tight ends, so I don't see us going Dawson Knox, Ole Miss or Kaden Smith, Stanford, at the end of Round 2...

The better value will likely be an offensive lineman, strong safety, or a big Nose Tackle; maybe a running back if he falls...

We won't draft a TE. Ingram will be back. "Kurt Coleman part of a strong unit"? Huh? Saints are pretty set at WR? HUH??

As far as NT goes there are 2 that I like one is:
Khalen Saunders NT Western Illinois 6'2 310 lbs. projection is round 2-3, kind of fits where we pick
Daylon Mack NT Texas A&M 6'1 335 projected round 4-6.
As far as a TE goes I would take a flyer out on Donald Parham TE Stetson 6'8 243 projected round 4-6.
I'm still wanting a OLB to groom and could contribute Vosean Joseph OLB Florida 6'1 227 projected round 3-4.

I'm with you there.

Meredith is still an unknown, Ginn is a year older, Tre & Kirkwood are inexperienced 2nd year guys & no guarantees Dez returns to NO & performs at a high level.

We are hardly "set" at the WR position.

Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft Prospects (NFL Combine)

If Ingram isn't back, I like Snell pick. It's a good fit. I also like Hurd's versatility and he could be another swiss army knife for our offense.

That's a solid mock draft.

Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft Prospects (NFL Combine)

If we trade up it will be for Hockenson TE out of Iowa. If we stay put in the 2nd we take best player available and that would be anyone of these:

Oklahoma WR Marquise Brown
UMass WR Andy Isabella
Oklahoma iOL Ben Powers
Maryland S Darnell Savage Jr.
Georgia TE Isaac Nauta
Alabama EDGE Christian Miller

I don't watch much football anymore besides my beloved Saints, but I do enjoy watching the combine athletes at work running through the drills!
I just wish I knew who to follow......although, thanks to ya'll I am better informed.
Besides Alabama I don't get to watch much college ball because rugby is on Saturday and with travel it's usually an all day event. But I do like following the players because even if we don't draft them I will know them when I see them on the field and that is about all the joy left in pro football thanks to Roger Godhell!!!:bang:

Or how about Riley Ridley (Calvin's younger brother)?

@ # 62 I like Erik McKoy from TAM. Watched him a few times ... big kid with powerful hands. He's versatile too and can play G/C.

Unger is getting older so there's that.

I hope not. We have good chemistry on the O-line and I don't want to mess with that. However, Unger isn't getting any younger and I like the idea of drafting O-line with our first pick again. Our investment in the O-line is paying big dividends now and we need to get another athlete to bring in the rotation because we can't keep the same five on the field for any length of time.
