I hadn’t seen that Stallworth changed his number to 95. That’s a good number for the big guy.

Corbin Kaufusi (UDFA 2019)

He's got crazy height (6'9). It'll be interesting to see what he can do at camp.

Fellow B&G member UtahSaint may have more insight. Didn't see a lot of BYU football in 2018.

I heard Pat Kirwan talking to a caller yesterday about the height of certain players. He said there is a point where height can begin to be a detriment as opposed to being a positive for certain players. Leverage becomes an issue, as well as maneuverability.

83 - Cyril Grayson(UDFA 2019) ... some scouts claim a 4.27 40 however LSU Pro Day 4.33. Pretty impressive to say he's a 400 meter guy.

Beer Man 2.0 perhaps?? Camp awaits.

AG, are you forgetting Ed "Too Tall" Jones? He was 6' 9"

Doug Atkins was 6' 8"

Jason Taylor was 6' 7"

Bubba Smith was also 6' 7"

Callais Campbell is 6' 8"

Ben Davidson was 6' 8"

and Marcus Davenport is 6' 7" (and may still grow as he's only 22yo)...

I get Kirwin's thought, it reminds me of Pittsburgh drafting guards that were no more than 6' 3" that way they could get under defensive linemen and run the ball better...

It really depends on the player, their ability to adjust.

One thing I love about tall DEs is that if they're disciplined and maintain their edge, QBs have to lob the ball to RBs with a higher arc over 'em, giving LBers more reaction time...

And tall DE's can bat down a lot of short passes, taking away that part of the West Coast Offense...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Those are all superb athletes that are able to play with that height. For every one of those there are 100 tall guys that can't get out of their own way. The caller I was referring to had stated that he was excited about some UDFA because he was 6'9". Kirwan was pointing out that being tall is not an indication that a player will be good. In fact, it is usually a detriment unless the player has the athleticism to make use of the stature. Those type of players are rare.

C'mon JP,

Most of the aforementioned guys were 1st & 2nd round draft selections.

Meanwhile Kaufusi is a 26 year old, undrafted rookie trying to make an impression on coaches. One of the struggles for him coming out of college is leverage as AG mentioned in his previous post.

He has his work cut out for him that is for sure.
