#1 WR of the Future???
Here's a question for you guys. Someone responded to one of my posts saying he did not think Stallworth is a #1 type wide receiver.
Soooo......... Who IS our number one wide receiver of the future????? Henderson is a Donte type wide receiver and Lymann is an injured type wide receiver. The jury is still out on whether Tallman will even develop, and the others I don't even consider thought: Lewis is getting old, Poole ???, Hakim is a punt fumbler with speed. It seems outside of Poole's below avg speed and great hands, ever other WR has great speed and suspect hands. Have the saints overlooked the future or do they believe Stallworth is the #1 WR of the future or am I missing something??? |

I think Stallworth has the potential to be a number 1, no question. If he continues to build on the tougness he displayed last year.

Stallworth has everything you look for in a #1 receiver except the consistent hands. He isn't afraid to take a big hit over the middle and he has the gamebreaking speed to take any pass to the house. If he can continue to make improvements with his hands as he has been doing for the last couple of years, I don't see why he couldn't be a #1 receiver. The question is who will be his complement receiver...?

I have to disagree... after seeing him in camp, he's a good WR. I think suited for #2 at best... not that is a bad thing. He's style is the sppedster spread the defense type WR. I think that isn't the "go to" WR, like Horn. I don't think we have a #1 in development right now. We have role players and then there backups in case someone gets hurt. Can Stallworth fill Horns shoes NO. Can Hakim, maybe for a bit. Can Henderson fill Stallworths shoes, NO. Can he stand in and be ok, maybe. Do we need a future number 1 WR in camp developing, not really. Chances are he'll run first shot at FA. Snagging one when we need one in FA when we need one is good.

We really can't say he can't fill Joe's shoes... he's never had the oppurtunity to do so yet. As of right now, obviously he can't. But in a couple of years or so, I don't see why he couldn't. Who would have ever thought Joe would have become a #1 guy? He's still developing and we still have Joe for quite a while. With that said though, I agree there is nothing wrong with being a #2 either.
