MORE TRUTH & RUMORS
Some people remain convinced that Red McCombs will use some of the $600 million he received from the sale of the Vikings to become a major investor in the New Orleans Saints and try to move them to San Antonio, where he resides.
-- St. Paul Pioneer Press Dolphins offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said there is no front-runner to start at quarterback even though Gus Frerotte worked with the first-team offense ahead of A.J. Feeley during last weekend's minicamp. -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel One week after indicating that Chad Pennington didn't do any throwing in the recently completed offseason program, the Jets issued an update yesterday on the quarterback's recovery from shoulder surgery, admitting that he did, in fact, start a throwing regimen more than a week ago. -- New York Daily News The Seahawks concluded their final minicamp with no clear answer as to who their backup quarterback will be. The good news is that draft pick David Greene showed marked improvement in his second minicamp and Seneca Wallace used Matt Hasselbeck's short absence this week to gain a few more fans. -- Seattle Times Falcons WR Peerless Price has been put on notice. It's time for him to put up or lose his starting job, if not his roster spot. He's had a solid offseason, so coaches are encouraged Price might finally deliver solid numbers. -- Atlanta Journal-Constitution The Falcons, Lions, Cowboys and 49ers are among the teams expected to show some interest in safety Lance Schulters, who was released by the Titans. "This is a case where we are continuing to deal with the salary cap issues that were primarily addressed in February, and we were unable to find a deal that was agreeable for both sides," Titans GM Floyd Reese said. "We wish him the best and realize he still has some quality football ahead of him, but we are committed to getting through our cap difficulties this year." -- Nashville Tennessean Vann McElroy, the agent for veteran safety Reggie Tongue, who was released Wednesday by the Jets, said he planned on calling Reese last night. Another McElroy client, safety Rich Coady, is also a possibility for the Titans if he's released by the Falcons. Coady played for the Titans in 2002. -- Nashville Tennessean The Eagles have a meeting scheduled today with Manuel Wright, a defensive tackle from Southern California who will be available in the NFL's supplemental draft on July 14. -- Philadelphia Inquirer The Dolphins will have Wright in for an interview next week. -- Miami Herald New Vikings owner Zygi Wilf asked for a car so he could become acquainted with the area. He will he'll drive himself into the neighborhoods, where he'll stop by convenience stores and other grass-roots venues to get a personal feel for the communities. That seems to be his style. "I want to know the people here," he said. Hall of Fame former Vikings coach Bud Grant will remain a consultant with the team and retain an office at Winter Park. Wilf, who still prefers an open-air stadium, and Grant met Thursday, and Grant expressed the advantages he believed he had coaching outdoors with the elements. -- St. Paul Pioneer Press |

RE: MORE TRUTH & RUMORS
ahhhh we beat this one to death already... "some people" who is some people -could be made up, not a legit source. I don't think the NFL would allow him back in as a part owner. Benson would let his GM make decisions with out checking with him first. Benson loves being an owner of this team and plans on handing it over to his daughter.

granddaughter, no?
but otherwise, you're right. If Mueller was fired b/c Benson was too controlling, there's no way the old man is going to let Red in. I'll tell you one thing though, those two would easily win the award for sleeziest, greediest and cheapest old bastards of all NFL owners. |

RE: MORE TRUTH & RUMORS
Mueller was fired over the Ricky Williams deal. All matters on the team he was suppose to run by Benson... there were several that were made Benson was not let in on and when Ricky trade happen, Benson had heard about it from a reporter instead of his on GM.
I understand its his daughter who is bing groomed to take over the team. She has been working with the organization for a couple of years now. I am pretty sure its not his grandaughter but... its ken. |

Rita LeBlanc was initially overseeing the VooDoo, and I'm not sure whether that has changed. She is also listed as an Executive/Owner of the Saints currently. Benson, no doubt, has her in the Finance department.
