Just some thoughts on the possibility of having signed McCoy...

First, didn't buy the argument, logic we didn't have a place for him, because we wouldn't have gone after Suh last year with a healthy Rankins and Onyemata...

Second, Mickster and Loomis must have either not had available cap space or, if we even made an offer, was significantly lower amount of contract money as Smash suggested...

Third, If the Saints Front Office were expecting a contender discount, it really wasn't in the calculus for what McCoy and his agent were about as Cher suggests...

Finally, Saints are really trusting the medicals on Rankins injury and that either is very encouraging, or in light of recently, similar cases (i.e. Fairley, Unger, Meredith) scares the sh!t out of me...

McCoy definitely would have solidified DT3 group with uncertainty of Rankins Achilles tear, but McCoy's gone from playing with CrabCraws to the Abstinent Sham, so he'll see the same results...

Re: Bucs Cut Gerald McCoy.... Should We?

Saw a report on Twitter from Larry Holder ...

Saints never got involved. One source deemed the Saints involvement in McCoy as "doubtful".

IDK, that's interesting for me.

Guess the Saints front office brass/coaches think David O/Edwards will be the truth in 2019. McCoy would have been nice though .. especially with Rankins in rehab mode.

I still believe once the dust settles, if another "vet" gets released later this year the coaching staff will be all over it.

To be continued ...

Panthers are likely releasing Poe as they can't afford both...

I know we have Malcolm Brown, but I still think we could use another vet in the middle as part of the rotation ... keeping the big fellas "fresh" at the start of the
4th quarter is critical, especially in those close games.

How was the production from Poe in 2018?

Agreed. And you're exactly right, in fact, I'd rather do like New England and have a bunch of mid-salaried guys constantly rotating as is done with Hockey Front Lines - keep those horses fresh...

Dontari Poe will be 29yo in August, a first round selection (11) by KC in the 2011 draft.

Per ProFootball Reference, he started all 16 games for Carolina last year (available - √), Nine (9) Solo Tackles, Eight (8) Assists, Four (4) TFL, Three (3) QBHits, One (1) Sk (production - X* as a NT - so he's not a DT3)...

ProFootballFocus (FWIW) grades him Overall - 69.0; Run 73.2; Pass 58.3; so, he's a NT coming off on third downs, and we just let that walk out the door in Tyeler Davison...

Again, Saints FO must have confidence in the medical reports on Rankins and/or their depth to spell Big "Onye" (Sorry young'ins, Big O is reserved for Oscar Robertson, one of the real all-time greats in NBA)...

This makes the Malcolm Brown signing look even better...

Tyler is a FailClown now.
Only a one year deal.

Maybe there is depth we haven't yet seen.

Are we back on the New England Player Personnel Playbook?
