Very fair brother. I saw your other post about intelligence, dont sell your self short. If you ever put on a Falcons jersey we can revisit lol.

We are Saints fans. By that, and knowing the torture we willingly submit to it would be reasonable to question all of our intelligence...

We all poke at each other but it should never get personal. We are all on the same side of the field after all and I would like to think that if anyone ever needed help we would all try to assist if we could.

Whether in the barracks, locker-room, or as brothers, guys break each others balls, just a fact of life. Hopefully its all in good fun.

But I will fight for the right for folks to share their opinions whether I agree or not without judging those folks. That's how I roll.

Absolutely share your thoughts. But don't chastise others for shooting holes in your thoughts. If you feel strongly about your opinion and can back it up with tangible facts then you can make a point in a debate.

Personally, I feel the preseason has very little relation to what we will see in the regular season. Under today's CBA regulated limited contact training camps the preseason games have turned into an extension of the camp itself and nothing more.

Explain to me why I am mistaken (even though persons envolved in the process have expressed these same observations I simply repeat) and I will honestly consider those opinions.

As St Pat Swilling stated at half & post game, he didn't like the pass rush or defensive effort. His effort quote is unnerving to some degree. Bad angles and loss of contain stood out...basic football.

Grant it, we played very vanilla, but it shouldnt look like those 11 guys are merely a flashing yellow light between the 25 yd line and the goal line.

Agreed. But it gives the coaching staff the opportunity to light a fire under the asses of those squads. Does it reflect upon what we can expect come the regular season as some imply? In my humble opinion ... no way.

Once again, my issue is with projecting upon the regular season based upon a pretty much meaningless (in the big scheme of things) preseason game. Hopefully it will help weed out those not making the cut.

On another note, I'm wondering what has happened to the claims of doomed attached to Latavius Murray coming into the game. Injured. Cannot be depended upon in the passing game.

Murray looks like a good fit at signing and now. Didn't have any issue through camp or now. He should contribute in the run & pass game heavily.

The 'effort' note is not good for the culture of any defense, preseason or otherwise. That's an attitude that Cam brings on the field. Without him, we have a small sample size of our 1s sans Cam. Hope it's an anomaly, but there was a difference in intensity without him on the field.

I agree completely. Jordan is the defensive leader. That is vital. It displays his importance. It is a different unit when he isn't on the field. Hopefully a couple of others will step up into the leadership role.

But, I repeat, all we have seen is a very slightly practiced squad consisting in a large manner of players that will not make the final squad. It is a bit early to make any judgments of the regular season expectations.

This in not directed toward you, Barry, but those who were projecting toward the "real" roster.

That’s what I’m screaming. Don’t tend to be or ever be a negative Nellie , just honesty on our D that should be better even if 50 % of starters out.

No issue with that given the parameters. Once again, my issue is with those who project regular season expectations based upon an otherwise meaningless preseason game. I wasn't happy about the defensive performance either, but I know that it no relevance upon what we will see come week one.

No worries. I expect great wailing & nashing of teeth on which fringe players should/shouldn't be on the 53. Wouldn't miss it.

I’m not worried. It’s preseason 1 and honestly we never look that hot in preseason. These position groups will gel soon enough. Considering the fact Minny was playing their starters and appeared to be playing more to win rather than evaluate.
Only player that stood out as a Negative is Davenport. With his draft status I expect more.
I really can’t wait to see Butler out there this week. If he continues to stud we are going to be a nightmare.

Trey smith better not drop another ball . Butler is in his head already.

3quan still having the occasional mental lapse ... carry over from his rookie year. By the way, Tre is a "Z" receiver & Butler is the "X".

If anything, Kirkwood (X)needs to pick up his game because Emmanuel isn't going away.

Yes just a pun at trey, I would like to see him ( Smith ) stay healthy to see what he can really do to help MT.

I think Tre is a third year guy. Looks like same goes for Davenport. Could be a good thing come contract time.

I they are in year 2 both of them both were hurt most of last year. It’s got to improve both . When trey came back healthy he struggled to get open but so did MT that was taken out the game with doubles and triple zones on his asre . Daring Brees to beat them with someone else. Now a TE in the mix will unleash the beast of this offense.
