Not unreal at all. We cut Ozigbo because he wasn't good enough for the 53 man roster. He was most likely targeted for the practice squad but didn't clear waivers. That's a very common gamble this time of year. As for Murphy, he was one of ELEVEN players brought in to be tried out. EVERY team brings in a number of players after the cut to 53. That is also standard operating procedure throughout the league. Injuries always occur and having a Rolodex of possible replacements is a must. You can't try them out when they are on other team's 90 man rosters.

Yea but the fact that half of those players were RBs is a sign that they are still not comfortable with what they have at the position . We only have 2 TE on the roster which pretty much makes it a given that they will have a third. We are banged up at LBr so that makes sense, there’s a need.
I have no reason to believe there’s not a need for another RB. I’m betting it’s a need because they aren’t comfortable with Murray.

You're bet is full of crap. You aren't comfortable with Murray because you always have to have someone to ***** about every season. Love you, Dude, but it IS how you roll. The most replaced position during the season are RB's and CB's. Of course you look at everyone possible. The more likely replacement would be for Washington at RB3.

And I think we already have TE3 on the roster in Taysom Hill. He saves a roster spot ... or two or more ... because of his versatility.

Well he didn’t have to try out for the the jags he on the 53. We have a third rb that just got cold cocked in last preseason game and we let a legitimate rb go that went thru a whole training camp and now we’re bringing in try outs for the practice squad. I know there’s more to it so save the analytic bs. Ozigbo probably mumbled something back at Patton and he was out the door.

Sorry, st thomas, but you are incorrect on this part. The Saints are bringing in players not to "try out" for the practice squad, but to evaluate as possibilities later down the road. It has nothing to do with Ozigbo or Murray or any other individual player. It is called doing your due diligence to prepare for future needs. EVERY NFL team does this immediately following the 53 man cut down. I would be more concerned if they DIDN'T bring in a slew of cut players to evaluate, regardless of position.

Ok I got it . But listen to this if one of the 11 is better than what we have on the PS in RBs he’s taking somebody’s place Correct.

Yes. That could plausibly happen, but what is more likely is that we resign one of the veterans we let go after week one so we would only be obligated to paying them week by week. A veteran on the roster as of week one is guaranteed their whole year's salary whether they are on the roster or not.
