I know, I know, but Davenport does other things to effect the play.

Davenport showed real promise early on, but other guys are outplaying him. Hope he turns it around

Saw us playing a lot of 3-2-6 on defense with PRob blitzing almost every time from the dime CB spot.

Seems like that is a trend going on in college football and sometimes now in NFL. Drop 8 back into zone, make the other QB throw into a sea of bodies and hope for the best. Like literally Iowa State and Texas both did this almost all afternoon yesterday, it's kind of weird.

So was I.

"under achieved" would be an upgrade; hard to tell the difference between the weeks he's inactive or active.

2nd year player, at this stage, BUST!

So I decided to dive into just how much of a discrepancy there was in production between Michael Thomas and our other WR’s through 10 games...

Michael Thomas- 94 receptions

Every single other WR combined- 32 receptions

Re: Observations from the Saints win over the Bucs

  • @CantGuardMike is the best Wide Receiver in the NFL - and his best football is yet to come! With the game's rules today, he's nearly unstoppable...

  • Alvin Kamara looked to be his old self, Payton made an honest effort to spell him with Murray; but Ingram would have pinballed more yards today...

  • You can tell Cam is getting older, but like Drew, he's smarter, wiser and picking his spots; Tampa Bay wanted no part of him today...

  • Really happy that Trey Hendrickson was pass rushing with reckless abandon which is a relief after that ugly injury earlier in the season...

  • Hendrickson even had a QB knockdown, disrupting a pass and on the next play TB triple-teamed him, Cam was glad to eat...

  • Marcus Davenport just keeps disappearing; don't blame him for Payton stupidly putting two firsts and a fifth up for him, but Damn, play like a first rounder...

  • As much talk that there is re: another receiving option, which we do need, I'm more concerned about our offensive guards now, and moving forward...

  • Eli Apple has to be re-signed; not sure how we stretch those dollars, but his confidence is growing and if Aaron Glenn stays, he's getting better...

  • Gardner is still rough around the edges, but his play, coupled with Apple's improvement, we may see Vonn Bell expendable this offseason...

  • Linebacker play is so much better than what it was three years ago; saw some uninformed comments re: Klein; I'll just say we're not in the LB room...

  • We mostly play nickel as the trend in the league is Pass, Run, Pass; but today I saw lots of 3LBer sets vs a pass happy Bucs offense - that's encouraging...

  • Still a head-scratcher our abysmal record coming out of our BYE week; but it was nice to see the team come out and play with greater intensity...

  • Consider our best cornerback was out, was really impressed the way the defensive backs circled the wagons and only gave up big plays with a lead...

It means we have 1 WR and a lot of other WR's running around not getting open.

Cincy Bengaloos have had two guys progress throughout the season (not named AJ Green/Tyler Boyd) and catch 32 balls a piece with horrendous QB play, yet here we are 9+ weeks into the season we are talking about our #2, 3 WR situation.

Drew drops back. Wants to take a shot. Nobody is open. He 'settles' for something less, if anything.

That's becoming far too typical from one play to the next. I swear even my old :censored: could get open once or twice. Jeesh. With the lone exception of MT, we flat out suck at WR.
