With all due respect to you, Brees did not get the Saints here. Not this year. He was up and down, and this team, for whatever reasons people want to believe, played better and more consistently in the games he missed.

My opinion is that this team was forced to play a balanced brand of football without Drew. And when he came back, it went right back to making Brees the focal point, and his diminished arm strength severely limits how diverse the passing plays can be anymore. There is virtually no threat of the deep pass. Because Drew is still an elite mind at the QB position, and is accurate in the distances he can reasonably throw to, he will have his moments. And we saw that. But we also saw some mediocrity in several games.

I don't say it's time to get rid of him, as this team needs to groom someone to take his place. But it IS time for this team to get serious about doing just that, and preparing for life after Brees. And it's time to stop pretending that Taysom is the 3rd string QB and make him a full time WR/TE. He's not a gimmick player. He is a star, who is confoundingly being straight jacketed by his "QB" status, all while the coaches have no problem making him cover kicks and punts. It's idiotic.
