JP -

Jalen Hurts. This is a sleeper draft selection ...

He's won a ton of games in a very difficult SEC, skins on the wall, made a successful transition from one school offense to the next, Heisman finalist etc ... he understands the game, smart & elusive.

IMO this kid could be a very intriguing pick that teams are sleeping on. Kind of like how some did with Lamar MVP Jackson.

FWIW Kurt Warner is really high on his ability and translating that to the next level.

I'm just not sold on a lot of other prospects not named Burrow. Jalen is intriguing to me though.

To me, he's a cross between a Steve Smith-type WRz and a WR3; some scouting services including Steve Shoup are convinced he's a RB.

Reviewing many of the mocks/sims, he's going anywhere between the late 3rd to the 5th, so I moved him down into the 4th.

He's the WR I want. So many good college RBs who did well as WR and this one already IS a WR.

Queen is quick, fast, just not that fast that he can compensate for that length; Think in terms of a WR with a big catch radius, a taller LBer will have reach to minimize those areas...

Another issue is Queen only has a half season of good tape; now that tape looks really good, and he's efficient - but do we want just efficient in Round 2 or a playmaker?

Believe the better fit for him will be on the inside in a 3-4 like the Steelers where he can complement and clean up a lot of plays, racking up tackle stats, maybe forcing fumbles...

In full transparency, maybe being superstitious, as a franchise we've not a good track record with LBers in the 1st round, Alvin Toles in '85, Mark Fields in '95, Stephone Anthony in '15...

Lastly, have said this before, two years ago - I've come to realize linebackers are nearly obsolete in today's NFL game...

Value in taking LBers in the draft and staying power doesn't warrant a first round pick about like RBs have been reduced as well...

To me, if you're gonna use a first round pick, use it on a player that can give 10-12 years to a franchise where you've leverage, control contractually...

That's why first round picks are so valuable (unless you're Sean Payton) and I really believe trade charts should be updated to reflect this...
"Alvin Toles in '85, Mark Fields in '95, Stephone Anthony in '15"

OK, you've convinced me...err, reminded me: I WOULD be sad about a LB pick in the first.

Although, I wanted Kendricks with that pick we took Anthony. Most said "too small so too risky." I think Kendrick's proven he was good enough for that late 1st.

Now he's getting projected as high as late in the 3rd (when we pick) but a CB that I like is CB Reggie Robinson, Tulsa; Height: 6' 1", Weight: 202 lbs....

He's a on the light side to take in the first round, but Cam Dantzler really intrigues me as our CB2...

I like the size on Danztler. He's not Greedy Williams skinny but slim ... he'll add bulk in a NFL weight room program.

Some, he's just got a narrow frame like Westbank, Keenan Lewis...

Unlike others, I do put a lot of stock in the Wonderlic - ...and some of these scores are disconcerting...

And now I can see why the Saints may be high on Aiyuk...

If Sean and co are truly interested in Brandon … just reach out to Coach Herm Edwards. He'll provide a true, honest assessment and no sugar coating.

The one thing I do like about Brandon is his ability for yards after the catch. Something Jr and 3quan Smith failed to do in 2019.

I think he's a Day 2 draft selection. Smart kid though & could become the eventual replacement for Smith at the (X) receiver position.
