That's is a great point - When New England traded back, Payton Camp thought they had their boy in Murray; they likely thought the Chargers were going CB or Safety...

Then the Chargers selected Murray...

Have no doubt that with the Wuhan Virus spectre causing social distancing that that limited the Saints ability to coordinate a trade back within what is normally a too long selection period...

Believe today was the day we were to trade up into the second in a package deal with Warford and/or Peat and take Ruiz early in the second...

Instead they adjusted the plan and made the mild reach of Ruiz...

Why would you think Ruiz was a reach when he was clearly the best interior offensive lineman in the draft? In your mind it may have been a reach, but you aren't the one doing the REAL drafting, my friend so your opinion of what signifies a reach is just that ... your opinion. As for myself, I thought it was a great pick that addressed one of the biggest needs we had coming into this season.

The pick keeps looking better and better the more I hear about Ruiz.

I doubt the virtual draft had anything to do with not being able to coordinate a trade. It’s always done over the phone or monitor anyway.

Maybe not in the Saints' case with Payton having autonomy; but when leadership teams of franchises would need to confer, it's far more expedient to huddle in person...

AG, nearly every scouting service had him graded in the second round...

You may not think so, but I do have an informed, well-read opinion as this is kinda what I do this time of year if you haven't noticed...

There was also the fact that Payton was one of the longest on the clock last night, selecting with less than two minutes left...

I'll be sure to follow up with confirmation once my sources can confirm without it being traced back to them...

If you haven't watched his film, you may want to read the scouting on Akers - he has among the worst vision of draftable RBs in this class...

Re: Saints Draft Days Official Thread

I have leaned one thing I forgot I learned it a couple of years ago. That None of us know what the hell the Saints are going to do come draft day. But about mid season we forget the anger and how upset we were when say Alvin Karama is running like a no one has ever ran before or Thomas leads the leage is pass catches.

I don't have a problem with whatever Sean wants to do because well he gets it done.

I recall so many people complained about AK in the 4th round when we could have got him undrafted FA. Sean sees and knows something. Now if we trade he we'd get a 1st and more for him.

So next year... When the 5 best players availabe are up and we are up. I am going elsewhere...
