As for four game preseasons, they are a thing of the past. With the regular season expanding to 17 games and likely a second bye week two preseason games will be the max. If the NFLPA gets their way they could disappear completely. They would be missed less had we had OTA's and mini-camps. That was the killer.
The NFL is manipulating games and that is why scoring is up; if we were operating in an apples to apples situation, scoring would be way down...

Teams that have invested heavily in their offensive lines, like the Saints, are getting screwed because the NFL's officials are not flagging holding to the same standard as last season, previous seasons...

Also injuries are way up, and that is being looked at as a direct causation to a lack of PreSeason games...

And what better reason for the NFL to want more “shootouts”?

None other than to improve ratings. Right or wrong, I do believe there is a discrete and identifiable reason for a changing of the “standards”. Last thing the NFL wants is lot’s of 9-6 games right now.

Not trying to say ratings are a complete dumpster fire, (looking at you AG, lol, and not wanting to necro an argument that’s already been heavily debated, lol), bc ratings aren’t a complete dumpster fire, they’re still the best thing on TV, but they definitely ain’t what the NFL would like to see.

Follow the money, you’ll find what the NFL values.

The lack of crowd noise and pressure is ratcheting up offense. No team in the NFL will have lock-down defense this year, not even close, especially with all the injuries. I think we'll need to do more to adjust to this new normal.

I would argue that we at least need two preseason games to evaluate our players and get the timing down before we start the regular season.
