None other than to improve ratings. Right or wrong, I do believe there is a discrete and identifiable reason for a changing of the “standards”. Last thing the NFL wants is lot’s of 9-6 games right now. The lack of crowd noise and pressure is ratcheting up offense. No team in the NFL will have lock-down defense this year, not even close, especially with all the injuries. I think we'll need to do more to adjust to this new normal.
