Do your own research as far as ratings. Anybody in the football biz or network media who tells you things are great is selling you the Pontiac Ferrari, same can be said for the opposite “I hate the NFL” boycott crowd, anybody who’s telling you the NFL sky is crumbling is selling you the same Pontiac Ferrari. The truth is there..., in the middle somewhere, changing from game to game, week to week, network affiliate to..., well you get the point.

I use the site below for my “raw” viewer numbers. But choose your own weapon:

I’m not buying that load AG, you’re quoting network tv and media, their nom de plume is pro NFL bias.
You're missing the point, gosaints1. Advertising revenues are not tied to absolute ratings. The pricing is based upon relative ratings and is measured in cost per minute. Most of the season's TV advertising spots have already been sold during scheduled NFL broadcasts and pricing per minute was up over last season. That's pretty much the same MO as every year.

Revenues can, and do, rise even while ratings may be down when the programming is bringing in a greater share than all other programming on at the same time. "Raw" viewer numbers are fine and how the viewership should be measured. Now go a step further and compare those "raw" numbers to the "raw" numbers for all other programming in the same windows.

Paid TV has been steadily declining for years. When the new ATSC 3.0 (antenna TV) is in full force it will do a few things. Establish a la carte for anything, create a lot more free channels in 4K and better sound and free TV can be watched from anywhere on any device.

The era of cable TV is dying. The way revenue is generated for sports is going to change drastically. Already starting to see it with sports a la carte on Amazon Prime. People won't be paying $100 or more a month for cable for channels they do not want.

Absolute facts here. Just like print media died and was relegated to niche markets only, cable company’s will follow suit. They will either change..., or die.

To be fair, they are already doing that by starting their own streaming services.

Was done with cable on several fronts, didn't want to subsidize Schitty music and Snookie's hook-ups; #fakenews from CNN, MSNBC, FOX; channels in languages I'm not fluent; fashion I'll never wear...

A la carte channels is what is most wanted and will best represent free market come to broadcast entertainment...

I didn’t watch the game against the Lions because I had family stuff to do... But I’m going to be honest here... I’m really not enjoying this season at all. The cognitive dissonance that it takes is incredible to have fake crowd noise that doesn’t change when the home team makes a big play. This crap is garbage.

Plus, I’ve heard whispers from a starter on the defense that they didn’t take training for this season seriously due to all the COVID stuff. Payton cancelling any OTA’s certainly didn’t help. Did you really think players were actually going to show up to training camp in great shape?!

This season kinda reminds me of the strike season.

This season is up for grabs for anyone who gets into the post season with all the off season issues.

2 big teams like GB and KC is probably going to go colder as season progresses. Hot starts at the beginning of the season never materializes to anything but failure in the end.

I’ve been silent since lockdown. I watch. But feel mildly guilty about doing so.
