I'm hopeful Brees is back for the Chiefs game (week 15). Saints aren't beating KC with Taysom at QB.

I love him as the utility player. He makes me nervous as the starting QB. I just don't see the confidence and skills to win againat teams with a winning record. I have great concerns about him against the Falcons in Atlanta next Sunday.

To me, I think Taysom didn't throw because he couldn't see Alvin. One of Drews strongest traits is he throws the ball with fantastic anticipation and knows where people will be, but that took time.

Deuce Windham yesterday said, just like his 1st start didn't make him, his 2nd start won't break him. It was an ugly showing but something to work on.

His, or Winston's, job is to win three games until Brees gets back. If Brees can go against the Eagles week 14 he will. I'm fully expecting him in that game. In fact, I'd be surprised if he didn't return that week.

I've been wrong before ... can't remember when ... but to hell with the division title. We need the #1 seed and that first round bye.

That’s kind of the fine line they are walking. They either want the #1 seed or the #5 seed. Anything else is likely to be a problem.

I feel we have the roster and the leadership to make it out of any position this season, but that extra week can make matters easier. One game less to avoid critical injuries and such. And the #5 seed is not realistic. Tampa is not in a position to take the division and could even be in danger of missing the playoffs completely. They are on the verge of an implosion.

Oh, and welcome to B&G!

Born in Baton Rouge in Sherwood Forest area. Moved away when I was eleven but kept and spread the faith. Spent almost 30 years suffering in Niner country starting the 90s. Been in Mass for almost 7 years now.

Respect keeping the faith. I was the opposite. From South Dakota. Dad transferred via USAF to Louisiana in the Spring of 1967 when I was nine. Was a Packers fan like most up there at the time. Found out my new state was getting an NFL team of their own. Been a devoted fan ever since. Most around here claim I'm too devoted. Sorry about that, but I'm all in and every year I expect to go undefeated.

So Asylum Guido if you were a Packers fan way back then would you remember Lynn Dickey as the Packers' QB or maybe that's after you had moved on to La?

More likely you'd remember Bart Starr.

Yea, Dickey was later. It was Starr since I was old enough to remember football. I even have a poster he autographed for me when he came to Shreveport for some promotion about 20-25 years ago. Yup, Starr and Jim Taylor.

Don't forget Scott Hunter, heir apparent to Bart Starr. Drafted in 1971 from Alabama, he started ten games when Starr was injured. Hunter started the entire 1972 season and led the Packers to their first division title and playoff appearance since 1967 under the tutelage of Starr, who served that season as quarterbacks coach.

His throws are pretty accurate and his ground game is phenomenal. Now then, let's clean up those fumbles. Oh, and keep winning. :p

I love Brees. Great man. Great leader. HOF career. Will easily go down as the best Saints QB in my lifetime. Could very possibly own the only Saints Super Bowl win, ever. Defended him against the few who thought he should have retired prior to this season. But now, looking forward, I'm just over him as the only way the Saints can win and be competitive. The arm is done. It can only decline further. His salary would cause the team to lose at least two quality players on defense this off season. Also, I'm truly concerned about his health. The play that seriously injured him this year was not brutal by football standards. It's just time.

Hill’s completion percentage was 71.1 %• Third game as qb. I would like to see his first 3 games compared to other guys in th game. Either way, I’m alright with him going forward. Huge upside.

Agreed, if Drews contract meant we lost someone like Demario Davis I'd be incredibly annoyed.

I think Davis just signed a new deal this off-season.
But with the way their playing together, losing anyone of them would be huge.

Actually, Brees is under contract through 2021. IF he retires we take an immediate $22.65 million cap hit in dead money. If he decides to return his contract can be restructured as part of an extension which would free up cap space to help prevent losing key defensive players.

Also, he knows his body much better than any of us. If he isn't concerned about his welfare anymore than any other player then why should we be concerned?

Drew Brees Contract Details

This does not compute. Whether he can throw 20 yards or 50 yards there's no one I'd rather have leading this team. He helped the Saints come from behind against the NFL's golden boy to win the Superbowl and he's the consummate professional leader.
