All it takes is one play just like the one a couple of weeks ago that makes Brees unavailable for the playoffs. He doesn't need a 4 game warmup for the playoffs.

Personally, I'd be perfectly fine if he sat through the KC game, played at Minnesota, then sit again week 17 to get ready for playoff football.

Let's not lose sight of the goal over ego. Brees has nothing to prove to any of us except to hoist the Lombardi again. So, if sitting out a extra game or two, or three, sets him up to be as healthy as possible for the playoffs, then I think that's the smart move.

The Denver defense is MUCH better than the Falcons. It's also the perfect spot for one of those dreaded letdown games. Hopefully Taysom's energy AND play can help the team rise up.

KC has a shaky defense and can't stop the run. I'm fine with Taysom running the offense I saw last week and winning a home game.

While it is true the likely don't need him to beat the Eagles, Brees is paid to be the Saints starting QB and as soon as he is able I'll guarantee you he'll be doing that job. Payton will have the best roster possible for every meaningful game and as long as the #1 seed is in reach EVERY game is meaningful. I see your (and others) take as fan-thought, not coach-thought.

Personally, I think his playing against the Eagles gives him a better chance to get his timing down to play the Chiefs the following week. But, our opinions don't matter one iota. They are going to do what they feel is best.

Looking ahead to Sunday's game vs Denver …

If Vic Fangio has a rough day running the football, it could spell disaster for Drew Locke (11 ints) in the passing game … just ask Matty "Ice".

Assuming our defense packs a consistent pass rush, I could see Drew throwing to one of our guys. He's currently ranks #2 in throwing it to the wrong team. Only QB with more int's than Locke is Carson Wentz with 14.

This should be an interesting match up.

Every week on Moving the Chains Pat and Jim do breakdowns on every upcoming game. The Broncos/Saints game has the largest margin between takeaway margins to date this season at 18 with Denver being at -13 and New Orleans at +5.

This could turn ugly in a very good way.
